Course Curriculum Overview
The college has academic freedom to decide their own syllabus. They do make small changes every year. But, I feel certain topics should've been covered in advance in first year which they postpone for further years. Even if, right now in my third year, we had C, java, python, web development in our 1st and 2nd year, we hardly understood any concepts back then. So that was a waste of time. They can make better changes in the syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
Summer and winter internship opportunities are provided right from the end of 4th sem. Companies like Samarth foundation, DeepCytes cyber labs UK, UptoSkills, GreenLine mobility, etc. the stipend depends on our role and other factors.
Placement Experience
The college starts providing internship opportunities right after 2nd year. They keep notifying the students via their emails about the various internships available. College is quite enthusiastic and helpful for giving internship to students. After 3rd year, they provide placements. Campus placements also begins after 6th sem. The average package went little down this year to around 4-5 lakhs/yr. My plan is to go for higher studies, M.S. I was already keened in learning more so I made this decision. Some of the teachers are quite helpful for higher studies they give LORs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees is normal as per other colleges providing B.tech in computer engg. The fees do rise by little margin every year. But that's the case with all colleges. I belong to NT caste so the govt. provides scholarship which reduces my yearly fees to around 20K. The college is helpful enough with the scholarship work. They do tell you in advance to be ready with all those documents.
Campus Life
College is quite popular for it's annual festival - alegria. It is a full week event in which no lectures take place. Various events like dance, singing, and other art related and tech related activities and sports happen in this period. Also they call bollywood actors, singers, for their promotions and concerts. Which is a worth watching experience if u love that actor. Apart from alegria, other events conducted by the various student bodies like CSI(comp society of India), GDSC, TAPAS, TPC, and others keep conducting their events every month. They also call upon experties from different field to share their journey and guide the students. Talking about the library, the library of engg department is actually old fashioned and needs improvement. It's not air conditioned. It lacks seating arrangement. Good point is that books are readily available in the library.
Hostel Facilities
Boys hostel and girls hostel is quite faraway. Girls hostel is near to college campus. But, boys hostel is 2-3 km away. I was in the boy's hostel. The annual hostel fees(including house rent, meal) was 97000 with security deposit of 15000(refundable after you leave the hostel) The fees do rise by huge margin of 5000 every year. But it's still normal as compared to other hostels. We were provided with 3-bed room. And an option to choose between common washroom/attached washroom. Attached washroom costs a little high. Prefer to go for common washroom. Hostel provides breakfast, evening tea/coffee and dinner. It doesn't provide afternoon lunch as the hostel is far away from college and it becomes difficult to handle that. We were served poha, puri bhaji, chole bhature, medu vada, paratha, etc in breakfast, In dinner, they provide sabzi, chapati, dal rice, and 3 days a week they provide non veg too. It doesn't taste that good but u can manage.
Admission
I got into the college through MHTCET entrance exam. My score was around 94% which was well above the cutoff. This college was my last preference. And I had to accept it. Although, I would have got B.tech in IT in a better college like FCRIT. But I wanted Computer Engg so I went ahead with Pillais. And now I'm not well satisfied but neither sad about my decision. The admission process was quite simple. We had to come to college with all the documents, and pay the fees and done. It was well organised in the campus. They also gave us a tour to the college campus after our admission. The entrance exam, MHTCET is conducted every year once after the Maharashtra state board exams(12th std) are completed.
Faculty
There are enough professors for all the subjects. Some of them are very talented and quite intelligent at their subject. They are easily available after the college on WhatsApp too. They are approachable. I have often interacted with few of the teachers who inspire me alot. They did solve my questions. And also helped in understanding tbe topic. But keep in mind, most of the work is to be done by the student themselves.
