Likes
- The mentorship and teaching methods are very good and they are focused very much on the students. The teachers are very helpful and will cater to your doubts. You get a lot of opportunities to participate in many competitions like moot courts.
- The course is designed by Panjab University and all the exams are also conducted by them so in the end you will get a degree from Panjab University as it is an affiliated college. A lot of toppers are from this college only as teachers work harder.
- The college is good enough for you to study and you can pass your time. There is a lot of things to do as it is a bit secluded and there are some good enough places to explore. You can see peacocks regularly.
Dislikes
- The distance from Chandigarh is very far almost 50 kilometres each side and there is a bit transport problem as if you come by bus then you have to take a rickshaw to the college which may charge more if you are the only passenger.
- It is best to come by car as the bus facility available is a private one and it maybe expensive for some people. The hostels are fine but don't expect too much. I suggest either live in Chandigarh or rent a home in ropar.
- The college is not exactly in ropar so you need to travel atleast 15 20 min even in a car to do anything
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is the same one as for the 5 year course in Panjab University as this is an affiliated college. You can also get migrated to Panjab University from this college. There is a test every year for odd semester depending on the number of vacant seats.
Fees and Financial Aid
The management seat is around 10 thousand more than the counseling one. There is fee concessions to students belonging to the reserved category, ews, single child, single parent etc. Apart from the tuition fee you also need to pay the examination fee every semester as that is taken by Panjab University. There is no such any fee apart from Fines that are for attendance and dress code. You only need to wear formal dress on Wednesdays.
Campus Life
There is annual law fests, national moot court competitions, debating championships etc. there are a lot of intra college completions and events as well. There are a lot of clubs in the college and you may join them. The library is average. You also get access to manupatra but that is limited to the college premises as you need to be connected to the college wifi to access it. You need a personal laptop as the ones in college are not good enough and sometimes don't work. There is an annual sports meet too and you can also become a part of the college team for various sports.
Admission
You need to apply for the college by submitting a form. There is just minimum qualification of passing and there is no such entrance test for the college. There is counselling sessions for the children and if you miss it you can get the management seats if they are available. The reservation and fee concessions are done at the time of admission and you need to submit the appropriate documents for it.
Faculty
Usually there are 30 to 40 students in a class as many of them are not regulars so the focus of the teachers is evenly distributed. The teachers are very approachable during college hours. You can even contact them afterwards but that depends on the teacher and yourself.
