Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Every year the course curriculum adds new subjects depending on the market like Gen AI this year which is one of the good thing. Although there are some courses which are online on platform like coursera which can be very hard for the students to understand. Although the doubt sessions for those classes are held offline weekly but in my opinion students can only study in classroom with the presence of teacher. The practical application of various subjects can be improved. Subjects like design and anlaysis of algorithm can be taught by applying the algorithm on projector and explaining each line of theorems. The exams of most of the subjects are on the difficult side and sometime out of syllabus as well.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students can apply for the placements from the 6th semester. Companies actively hire students from 6th sem onwards. Companies like TCS, Accenture hire students in bulk about 700-1000 students at once. Also companies like Uniqlo, paytm, meesho come for the placement. The highest on campus placement offered to the student is about 30 lacs by the Amazon. For software development role And average package is around 4 Lac for same. About 40% percent students get placed every year through on campus hiring. While many students continue their studies for the higher education. I have also registered for the on campus placement and fees for it was 16000 for the placement classes

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for tge course of B.tech is 120000 per sem without scholarship. Students can get scholarship by taking an online entrance exam LPUNEST. Scholarships upto 50% are given on the basis of the score in that exam. Students with the parents in defence background can avail special benefits. Students can also apply for the loan easily through campus only. The mandatory examination fees of 4000INR for the end term of semester is applicable for all. After the scholarship of 28% my each sem fees is 86400 + 4000. The hostel fees vary every year starting from 60000 upto 160000 per year excluding mess. Students can also avail mess the fees for it varies from 30000-40000. The part time job vacancies for data entry etc. are opened often for which students can apply. Students have to give an interview for it. And after selecting for the job role, they can work after attending their regular classes or in vacations.

Campus Life

4

Every month there are incountable number of events held for the students fron gaming events to the cultural events. One of the big events that is held once in a year, every year is One India in April which celebrates the diversity on campus. Several indoor and outdoor sports fields are provided by the university, from esports to baseball. There are numerous student clubs in the university which are responsible to hold various events on campus.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostels are not well maintained overall. There are regular housekeeping staffs to clean the room but the condition of the walls are not good. Additionally, the mess is of very poor quality. Mess food is probably the worst thing about the campus. The hygiene and aroma of the mess are not maintained by the respective staff. Also the food is not well cooked and tasty. The hostels are not affordable for the middle class but its very safe than living outside although it still doesn't justify the high cost. Outside of the campus, you can get a room at Lawgate(not safe) for 4k-10k per month and for even cheaper in residential area like phagwara (2.5k -5k).

Admission

Anyone can apply for the B.TECH course irrespective of the subjects in +1 and +2 . One can take admission after giving LPUNEST exam held by the University or through JEE result. The registration links for the same can be found on the LPU official site. The LPUNEST exam can be taken the first half of the year only. Scholarship can be availed by anyone offering upto 50% of the fees. Students with parents having defense background can avial extra benefits. The admission process is very easy to understand and dont need any improvement in my opinion.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty to student ratio is quite good. For each course there are enough number of faculties to clear any doubts of the student. Every faculty have a different style of teaching so no one can judge them on the basis of teaching. They are also very approachable in case of any problem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
