What Students Say
Likes
- Campus Area- The campus is a vast area which gives us enough space for walks or any other activities. The campus is of 650 acres and hence sometimes it's difficult to cover it by simple walk but overall it's fun to explore it with the greenery
- Social Life- The campus provides so many different societies and activities that no one sits particularly idle. Along with studies the co curricular activities really helps to keep the life happening.
Dislikes
- Power Dominance and Politics- Like any college this one also got power and dominance in college politics, though I don't like it but it's not a big concern
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum got updated in 2020 once and still there are few changes but I think it needs more modern subjects and informative topics. Overall we are getting a very basic knowledge and guidance but it really can do better and needs to be better.
Internships Opportunities
During Summers various IIT internship details are provided and apart from that in architecture there is no particular internships provided it's our own will to seek for internships. We can ask our professors or the pass out seniors because the alumni sect is strong and well bonded.
Placement Experience
Huge placement opportunities for B.Tech students are there but for B.Arch hardly there's one or two company and that is very much focused on civil oppurtunities not architectural, hence we find our own jobs. And to remind there's no need to panic, as everyone gets well placed even without placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
If we talk about the fee structure EWS and reserved Quotas have to pay only 7000 per sem, income category between 1lac to 6lac pays 27,500 approximately and 6lac above pays 69000 approximately. There are many scholarship programs mostly availed by only the state students and I think that's a bit unfair. There's no such placement in architecture but everyone gets well placed because of the reputed institution.
Campus Life
In MANIT we have 2 main events Techno and Maffick, one is focused on technical aspects and another one is cultural. It's a blast of events with fun activities by different clubs and societies and there are concerts by renowned artists. Apart from that if we talk about technologies and social life the college provides various workshops,Library, Digital Library, computer labs with super computers, sport activities, gym, spirts center, canteen, diner, park and Student activity center. We also celebrate different festivals like Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi etc.
Hostel Facilities
Students can rent out hostel rooms, it charges 18000 for double seater per semester. Girls hostel obviously has better facilities like lift, vending machines, nescafe etc. Hostel reviews are neutral but ut feels safe as girls hostel are located near faculty accommodations for safety. The mess charges 25000 per year and mess food is mess food it can never be like home some we need to adjust.
Admission
I took JEE paper 2 for B.arch and as expected the cut off was high, as I was also gen category from other state anything below 98.5 percentile is not acceptable for me. I scored 98.89 percencentile and then I got this, there is obviously relaxation for state students and reserved quota. No female quota was observed and the application process was through JOSAA
Faculty
In architecture I think the professor to student ratio is not appropriate as this is a studio course, the professor needs to focus on each student but having 50 at once leaves the poor professor with 2-3 mins of time reviewing their work but overall the architecture department got few gems which makes studying a bliss under them.
