Course Curriculum Overview

3

The current curriculum is more practical and clinical-oriented. Special emphasis is laid on the clinical correlation and how this topic is related to a patient and the disease. Eg. the adverse drug reactions of beta blockers contradicts their use in a few patients. Also, lectures on communication skills, medical ethics, the right duties of physicians, and patients are also discussed under aetcom sessions which start from 1st year itself.

Internships Opportunities

5

Till now no batch has passed out. So we dont know the scope of internships as of now. However, the 1 year internship through SMCW is compulsory. The hospital has departments of surgery, medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, dentistry, obgy, radiology, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Anandibai Scholarship is awarded to the top 5 students who score highest in neet UG exam. Their college fees are waived off only the accommodation i.e., hostel fees have to be paid. The fee structure for every year is raised by 10% and is uploaded on smcw official website. As of may 2024 the seniormost batch is in 4th yr , so no placements done yet.

Campus Life

3.5

We have our college fest avyanna which is pretty good. Other than that clubs are there but those are not actually functional at least as of now due to less participation I guess. The infrastructure is beautiful and the whole campus vibe is good. For me personally, I think the presence of other courses on campus like sports science, health science, etc. promotes communication with different people and breaks the medical student monotony.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

It's 3 people in a room-sharing basis. A hostel facility is compulsory They have started a dorm system from this year onwards too. Mess food is fine it's edible but too oily and uncooked sometimes but it's pretty good compared to other college messes.

Admission

Admission is through mcc counselling Its a private medical college . They have 10 or 20 seats for NRI too . Admission process was easy . Cut off goes pretty high it was i guess 522 for my batch not sure tho .

Faculty

4

Highly qualified professors. PPTs are pretty well elaborated and important points are always highlighted in class The concept explanation is emphasized in anatomy and pharmacology. Aetcom and SDL self-directed learning sessions are included in the monthly schedules for revision or checking if the topics are well understood by students or not.

In my family there are already 5 doctors including my elder brother that influenced me yo this profession It is a noble profession by which you can save someone's life. Improvement should be done in this course like there should be more practical approach then theoretical one. Exams are internal exams, preliminary exams and university exams. Difficultly level is medium.

The course curriculum is divided into 9 semesters along with a 1-year internship (5.5 years). There are 18 subjects with a different department in the college dedicated to each. The teachers here are really well qualified and have a lot of teaching experience. There are around 10 teaching staffs in each department. There were 2 terminal exams each 3 months. They were moderately difficult.

Remarks:

Positive: The college's infrastructure is really good. Negative: Being a private medical college, a lot of money is charged and they even earn extra money by charging unnecessary numerous times, very expensive admission forms and other expenses. Faculty is okay, selected few are only good. It is placed in a town which isn't well developed (Ahmednagar) There could be more extra curricular events and less restrictions for students living in the hostel, but there aren't.
