Course Curriculum Overview
I am studying in the flagship Adjudication and Justicing batch at NLU Nagpur and I took the course hoping to be well prepared for the judiciary exams. Unfortunately to achieve this, some important subjects have been skipped for us. (Example- Contracts-2, Company Law-2, etc.)
Internships Opportunities
Students from National Law Univeristy Nagpur are given opportunity to intern at almost all tier 1 law firms and other big companies. Every year 3-4 months of internship break is given to the students. The internship committee at NLU Nagpur also does a commendable job in securing internships for the students
Placement Experience
Considering that the University is a new one, the placement opportunities are much lesser compared to other top NLUs. Most students also prefer to prepare for their judiciary exams rather than sit for placements. However multiple students from the University have been emplyed in tier 1 firms as well.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
Fees are a little on the higher end. 300000 per year is a pretty significant amount. The college offers scholarships but you need to have good grades to get that. Apart from that various state governments also provide scholarships for studying at an NLU.
Campus Life
There are 2 Annual Cultural fests conducted by the Cultural Committee of NLU Nagpur- Lawkriti and Sanskrotsav. The fests get decent sponsorships from big and local brands. For Sports there is the Sportacus. It is a big sports fest in which almost everyone is given an opportunity to participate. It lasts for almost a week and the whole college is active and lively during this time. The college library is still being built but the temporary library is also decent. Further all students are given unique accounts for the elibrary through which almost every law journal and databases can be accessed. The classrooms are also technologically advanced. Theres a huge screen which doubles up as a board and the classrooms are fitted with speakers and soundproof panels. There are about 10 student run committees and a few more student run societies and clubs as well.
Admission
First give the CLAT exam. Apply through their portal. Get shortlisted. Pariticpate in a group discussion. Complete a psychometric test. Participate in an interview conducted by High Court Judges and the faculties. The above mentioned procedure is only for the Adjudication and Justicing course.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is pretty good. In fact there are some subjects wherein two faculty comes to teach one class of 60 students. Most faculties are highly educated and have completed their degrees from top reputed universities. The faculties are very approachable and you can meet them anytime during work hours.
Interview Experience
Yes. The topic for the group discussion shall vary every year for every group. It can be any general topic thats relevant today. The rounds did not require any extra preparation. You just need to be good with yourbwords and smart.
