What Students Say
Likes
- The college has good infrastructure and a liberal college life, not very strict regarding rules and attendance which in turn makes the college life a bit easier.
- The course is simple and we have some great professors, being an autonomous college Teachers prepare a question bank for all the subjects which in turn helps us a lot in the monthly examination.
- Course here puts emphasis on majorly all aspects of a student, from leadership to cognitive skills. We get to explore and take part in social events here.
Dislikes
- The campus size is just too small and lacks basic amenities like in campus outlets, we don't even have a proper gym, only a few dumbells and weight rods.
- Classes are nothing special, just like regular school classes. No step classes, no smart screens and no such class where students can bring their own laptops to do practical in there.
- Hostels don't have 2 Sharing or AC rooms. Food is okay but is limited, there's a fixed amount of serves that you can take.
Course Curriculum Overview
Like all other colleges in India, the curriculum is outdated and irrelevant to the current market and industry standards. Majority of the subjects put more emphasis on your mugging-up skills rather than challenging your technical skills. They should bring in some new subjects that are relevant and up to the current industry standards. Exams are held every month in the form of internals and during the end of our sem we have SEM END Examinations which decide our final SGPA.
Internships Opportunities
There are no active internship opoportunities as of now, students are struggling to grab one. Maybe this is due to recession but I hope the situation gets better soon. According to the previous year data, The companies which are actively hiring are Infosys, SAP, Bosch, TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini, Amazon and etc.
Placement Experience
Students after 6th sem are eligible for placements, well-known companies like AWS, Infosys, and IBM come to the campus. On records, the highest package here is 25lpa and the highest internship offered is 45000 per month. I plan to try off-campus placements as soon as I complete my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees is same for 4 years, i.e, 1,92,000 excluding the lab fees and etc. (COMEDK) Complete cost depends on the examination you undertook in in order to join the college as the fees for KCET Students is less as compared to COMEDK Students. There are some scholarships available for the state Reserved students. As of now there are no campus employment plans in the college.
Campus Life
The annual fest of this college is Interact. It has a series of events, ranging from Sports events, to Inviting supercars, arranging DJ Sessions and etc. Library here is great and well maintained, it has a variety of books and also a great set of staffs to manage all the things, But yes again, even the library lacks air conditioning. The gym doesn't have mirrors, speakers, and not even treadmills also a very limited area. There are no GDG or such groups/ Active clubs in the campus as of now.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are great, clean and well-maintained. They have a very helpful staff and decent amenities. Just that there is no availability of AC rooms and 2 sharing. Hostels are affordable here and considering there are no good PG's around here, this is the best option that a Non-Bangalore resident student has. The food is decent, not very good but manageable. Limited serves, eg. 3 chapati's only, rest you can fill up with rice, daal and rasam. In timings for boys is 6am to 8pm.
Admission
The cutoff for COMEDK in Global Academy of Technology CSE was nearly 26,000. Application dates are somewhere around July, Aug and the exams are comparatively easy with no negative markings. Improvements in the admission process can be allowing colleges to hold online registration, As currently student has to report to the college for initial admission procedures.
Faculty
The faculties here are good. The professors are knowledgeable and very experienced. Just some assistant professors or new faculties make the lives of the students harder by checking the papers harshly and not imparting the classes properly. Senior Faculties are very helpful and supportive in all aspects. Even the Lab staffs are very kind and supportive.
