Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In this way, the course curriculum at Lovely Professional University was relatively relevant and comprehensive. It provided students with a compilation of theoretical knowledge and their practical application. I decided on this course based on such factors as the course’s relevance to the industry; combined theoretical and practical learning, projects, and internships; and the opportunity to customize the course to match my interests and career goals. The curriculum provided students with first-hand experience through field visits, industry internships, and other practical components. It also used other forms of learning such as case studies and other practical projects. Therefore, the curriculum addressed the theory practice gap and ensured that upon completion, students were well equipped to take responsibilities associated with the course. In addition, the emphasis on experience and soft skills made the curriculum more effective. Some of the weaknesses of the curriculum included

Campus Life

Faculty

4.5

In Lovely Professional University (LPU), the ratio of instructors to students changed according to the specific department and class size but on average, it was suitable for personal attention and involvement in group activities. Still, in larger groups, it could be difficult at times getting into a one-on-one conversation with faculty members. The professors at LPU had usually good credentials with many of them having advanced degrees and work experience related to their fields. They taught in different ways but most of them were combining theory and practice, which made learning more interesting. Consequently, they often used real-life examples or case studies when explaining various points making this content more apply-able. As far as guidance is concerned, lecturers are available outside classroom time if approached by students; nonetheless the extent in which students could approach teachers varied depending on factors like number of students in a class, workload and individual

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
