Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is good that students are learning much about the core subjects and the course so that when they try to get a job they are well trained. The curriculum in first year of an engineering student is almost same as everyone but as the years goes up the subject changes and the core subjects are taught more.

Internships Opportunities

4

College has tie up with many multinational companies as well as their offering many startup supports to the students to acquire their goals. There many drone projects made by departments of mechanical and aerospace engineers also rockets, softwares, websites and detection apps etc are done and completed by the students of chandigarh university.

Placement Experience

4

The placements are good for engineering students who pursue computer science they get 80% company placements from the college. There are many criterias to acquire the placement as they should maintain 7.5 cgpa, should have attendance above 90% in subjects. Some of the companies visited chandigarh university are disney, google and other top most companies. There are students who get above 20 lakh as in packages and highest package in campus placement is of 32 lakhs. My plan is to get placed from CU in a good reputed company of 1-2 lakh package.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for every engineering courses are in between 80000- 1,20,000. Chandigarh University offers students more opportunities and scholarships as they write few exams to attain it. There are several tries also for scholarship examination if one student fails to obtain scholarship in the first phase. Students with financial difficulties can opt for student loan and they can pursue the course. Compared to other universities and private colleges the fees structure is very linient so that students can afford to study the courses.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is excellent in Chandigarh University as there are many cultural programs and festivals arranged occasionally every year. Also there are wide diverse clubs in the university which allow student to showcase their abilities and talents. The university has many excellent libraries in every block and has a main library which contain all the necessary books for academic and research purposes. Classroom are highly advanced and has great infrastructure in technical and academic education which allows students to experience the real job sector. Chandigarh university has excelled in sports category that many students have participated and won in national levels. Arshdeep singh a great bowler from chandigarh university is an ipl player who plays for punjab kings.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facilities are of 2,3,4 and 5 seaters which students can opt personally according to their choice, in which the room gives access to a student with one table, an almirah, and a bed. Hostel facilities are good compared to other universities. The mess food most of the days are of veg and weekly twice of non veg. To get a hostel room it is hard for the students as there are large number of students trying for hostel facilities therefore there is a policy like the fees should be paided two months before reporting. If one get rejected from getting an hostel room they can go for pg/ flat nearby the college with an affordable rent.

Admission

To be eligible to pursue the courses one should have 60 above percentage in 12 th grade. Students often check in websites of chandigarh university for admission procedures where they deposit 10000 at first for admission and scholarship exams. The st/sc castes have reservations and they can get scholarships. The exams are divided into 3 phases which are scheduled for month after month. They should improve the admission process if one tends to come to campus for these procedures the management are very bad while one tries to take an admission

Faculty

3.5

The faculty members are good overall but some of them lack in knowledge of the course and dont teach so well where the students and teacher lacks the interaction. The HOD of the department teachs the students so well that they excel in that subject but the question they provide are very tough compared to other teachers. Sometimes the teachers are biased towards certain students as they give them good marks whereas other students gets low marks even though their performance was same and good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
