Placement by IITM is provided which will also increase in the upcoming years
It being a four year degree you can apply to gate and foreign universities

Dislikes

The course is hybrid so campus facilities are not accessible
The placement are not at par with the regular student of IITm
No startup support for bs students in incubation centre

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is built according to industry need and since it's a hybrid course many new age courses are introduced rather than sticking to 20 years old syllabus , the exams happen almost every month and we have to go to centre to give examination

Internships Opportunities

Internship are offered to student once they clear atleast one Diploma , the roles offerd are mostly data analyst and data scientist the stipend is around 15-20 k you can get higher if you excel in interview and coding rounds

Placement Experience

Placement are available after completing bsc degree level while intership is available after completing Diploma level and there are good number of opportunities coming average package stays around 6-8 lpa , Moreover iit degree adds a lot of value to resume so even if you apply off campus there is a high chance of good placement

Fees and Financial Aid

The total course fee is around 3.6 lakh , there are fee waiver based on income and gender , you can check them on website maximum of 75% fee waiver is given , scholarship are available based on CSR fund Availability and there is no direct mention of scholarship on the website , opportunity for becoming TA is there and for it stipend is also given

Campus Life

Since it's a hybrid course there is no campus access you can visit iitm during a offline fest named paradox otherwise there is no campus access there are many groups and houses running in the course the complete information of the houses are provided on the website itself

Admission

There are two ways to enter this course first is jee based entry if you are eligible for jee advanced you can directly take admission otherwise you have to give a exam course content and other necessary information will be provided by iitm there is some cutoff that you have to clear to get admission

Talking about teachers they are some of the most qualified Indian people . This being a hybrid degree student faculty ratio is not that good but still many TA are there to help us We have live session daily with TA , once in a month could be a session of faculty

Students from 3year final sem will eligible for campus placements ,sorry i did not attend any of the interviews, a student without an arrear will be eligible for interview, my plans is to study masters in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Infrastructure is good staff are good teaching. It is quite easy to attach with the teacher. Staff suggest teaching with the slide and PPT they are not same as like in school which is they will like do was spoon feeding.

Good Learning Environment But need more Facilities

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose bsc computer science because I'm interested in IT jobs and want become a developer. The syllabus is useful for real world learning and it covers important basics. i found subjects like c programming very helpful for understanding core concepts. the curriculum is decent but it needs more practical sessions and better lab facilities. the software and systems in the lab should also be updated. we follow a semester system, and the exams test both theory and practical knowledge. overall the course is good, but more hands on training would make it even better.

Is IITM BS degree in Data Science worth

Students have to give an entrance exam conducted by IITM itself, the fee for which is 3000 INR(1,500 INR for SC/ST) but JEE students who have qualified for JEE Advanced don't need to give the exam but have to register for the program by paying the same fee. Students from any background can avail for this Degree if they have English and Maths as the main subject in 10th class, there is no age barrier as well. After the registration you will be enrolled in program and they will provide you 4 weeks of content, the exam will come from these content only. There is no cutoff for this exam but you have to score minimum 40% in qualifier exam to continue program(35% for OBC/EWS and 30% for SC/ST). The registraion opens three times a year i.e.November,June and August the time may vary a little bit....Read More
