NIT Jamshedpur : A half-NIT

NIT Jsr has great placement opportunities, especially in the Computer Science department where the average package is around 27 LPA. Being located in an industrial city like TATA, core branches like Mechanical and Production Engineering also have good placement prospects, with many students landing jobs in TATA Steel. The college conducts exams on time as per the academic calendar, without any delays. Classes are held regularly without disruptions, unlike some smaller government colleges. The hostels at NIT Jsr are well-maintained, with single-room hostels available for male students starting from the second year. A new hostel is expected to be ready by 2024, which will further improve accommodation. The B.Tech program spans 4 years with a total of 8 semesters, each semester having two exams – a mid-term worth 30 marks and an end-term worth 50 marks. Additionally, there are internal assessments based on class tests, quizzes, attendance, and assignments, contributing to the overall mark

A lot of second-year students just landed internships at Amazon for software development. Internships usually happen in the third year. Many students get internships that pay between 30,000 to 50,000 rupees. However, to qualify for an internship interview, you need to maintain an 8 CGPA.

Students can apply for jobs in their 7th semester. Around 700 offers are made to students. Big companies like TATA, AWS, and Amazon hire from our college. This year, the highest salary offered was 83 LPA. In the Computer Science department, 97% of students find jobs, and other departments also have good placement rates, with over 90% of students getting jobs. The average salary for Computer Science students is 27 LPA, while the overall average salary is 15 LPA.

The tuition fee at NIT Jsr is around 63,000 per semester. The hostel fee is about 15,000, the mess fee is 16,000, and the institute fee is 10,000. So, the total fee per semester is approximately 104,000. However, there are ways to get fee remission based on certain criteria. If you are an SC/ST candidate or if your parents' annual income is less than 1 lakh, you'll get a 100% fee remission on the tuition fee, meaning you only have to pay about 41,000. If your parents' income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakhs, you'll get a 2/3rd remission on the tuition fee, so you'll have to pay around 63,000 per semester. There's no remission for those with an annual income greater than 5 lakhs.

In our college, we have three main festivals: OJASS, which is a technical fest held in April, Culfest, a cultural fest in February, and URJA, a sports fest that lasts about two months with finals on the last three days, held from September to November. Additionally, there are smaller events like CDS, Diwali Night, and branch fests. We also have a Lecture Hall Complex with updated classrooms equipped with projectors, centralized AC, and proper speakers. Our library boasts around 50,000 books. Along with academics, our college provides excellent sports facilities including indoor and outdoor badminton courts, basketball court, cricket, football, hockey grounds, tennis court, and an open gym.

In the first year, students stay in double-bed rooms with two almirahs, one for each person, and a shared table and chair. From the second year onwards, students get single-bed rooms with a bed, almirah, table, and chair. There's internet connection through LAN in the rooms. The quality of meals in the mess is average, enough to get by for four years. The mess has a fixed menu with different meals. You don't need to register for the hostel; rooms are assigned automatically before you arrive on campus. First-year students must stay in the hostel; it's compulsory. From the second year, if you prefer to live off-campus, there are many rooms available outside the campus, along with tiffin services.

Admission was done through JOSAA counseling. If you have qualified JEE mains exam then you can participate and apply for college, JEE mains exam is conducted twice every year , difficulty level is not so bad if you study then you can easily qualify.
