Reality of IIT Guwahati

Curriculum is tough but you are learning new things when you study new things. On a semester you have generally 5-6 theory course and 2-3 lab course. If you found interest you will be really enjoying. Exam level depends upon professor as IITs are autonomous institution. There is gap of 1 month between two exams.

Internship is average. Around 30% students get on campus internship every year. Among the companies few are Microsoft, Google, L&T, TVS, BCG etc. On the other hand you can do some projects under professors.

You become eligible for placement from 6th semester end. Many companies are hiring. 81.7% placement have done till now this year and till placement is going on. My current plan is to sit for placement and doing job.

Campus Life is good. There is all types of sports. Also cultural activities are here. Technical clubs are present also. Here inside our campus, we have 3 Lakes. You can roam around your campus any time you want. Guwahati city is a little far from campus. The library is huge in the ccampus.

Two students in one room upto 2nd year. Then you will be allotted single room. Hostels have washroom. Meal quality is average. We get food 3 times a day. Mess have specific timing. You will be allotted hostel during admission. Here all students are residing in hostel.

First of all you must have PCM in 10+2 syllabus. Prepare well for engineering entrance. Qualify JEE Mains. Then you have to qualify JEE Advanced to get into IIT. I availed category reservation (SC). It gave me benifit to get into my college, IITG. Here academics is tough than other colleges. You have to be careful to your studies. A semester duration is about 4 month. You have to give 4 exams Quiz1, Mid-semester exam, Quiz2, End-semester exam accordingly. Frequency is about one type of exam per month. You need to improve your concepts to do well in JEE Advanced. Then only you are eligible to get into IITs.
