Course Curriculum Overview

3

Post Covid there is an increase in demand for Biotechnology and Biomedical fields. As I didnt yet decided about my future then, I opted for this as the best field to get in. We have numerous labs for each specific field in the branch and there is good research work going on. There is need for change in teaching methods since they are still following the traditional methods for assessments. Each semester is for 4 months and there are two semesters for a year. In each semester, there is mid sem and end sem evaluation.

Internships Opportunities

3

Many companies visit our college for providing internships some include McKinley, Swiss Re, Microsoft, Trilogy Innvovations, Nation with Namo etc. Their stipend range usually range from 20000 to 100000 per month for two months period. Doing an internship is necessary for every student in the end of their 3rd year. Students can opt for various research intern across and outside of India. Companies most offer roles in SDE, Data Analytics, Marketing Intern etc

Placement Experience

3.5

Students are eligible for campus placements from 7th semester. Many companies such as Microsoft, VISA, Juspay, AWS came to our college. Mostly companies prefer students from circuital branches than from other branches. More than 800+ offers were made. Due to recession the number of offers are less compartively. About 75-80% students are getting placed within college. Some opt for higher studies and some prepare for other exams such UPSC etc. My plan is to get placed after getting my degree

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee differs from person to person. People having reservation benefits can get scholarship directly from the institute itself. Morever, people coming from general or OBC category and having family income less than 1 lakh and 5 lakh will get fee benefits accordingly. Complete cost is about 5 lakhs for 4 years for me. There many scholarships for students such as FFE which they can apply for.

Campus Life

3.5

Innovision, Cosmopolitan and Nitrutsav are the three flagships fests happen in college every year. They are held in November, January and March respectively. Also there is HackNITR which is generally held in between January to February. A lot number of books are present in our library but they lack in infrastructure. Class rooms in Lecture Avenue are air conditioned and they have access to digital boards. Students can join in any of sports team if they want to and participate in institute inductions if they want to join in institute team. Various number of clubs are present in our college across various fields. More than 40+ clubs are present right now

Hostel Facilities

3.5

A hostel is provided with a fan, a light, a study table, a bed and a chair. Room size differs from hostel to hostel. Each rooms is shared with two students. Mess food is okaish and for vegeterians it might be hard to survive. Hostel room is registered by institute directly to the student. However a student can change his hostel at the beginning of each year by following institute guidelines. My hostel is located nearly 750 m away from the lecture complex.

Admission

Applied via JOSAA through my JEE Mains score and filled necessary details for the application form and got NIT Rourkela in the round 5 itself. After that securing a provisional allotment letter, I submitted required documents via NIT Rourkela offical website. I belong to General category where I got 96.2 percentile but if any candidate secruing this percentile and have a benefit of reservation will surely get a better branch. JEE Mains is conducted twice an year in January and April and difficulty level is moderate to tough. And after candidates who are eligible can apply to JEE Advanced in May.

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.

I choose this course because at first I was interested to automobile engineering but I didn't got it from other college so I preffered this mechanical engineering. It is a very though course as it seems. And there was 1:7 for faculty and student ratio. Faculties were highly qualified and some did PhD and m. Tech and other are fresher. The teaching skill differ person to person. The thermodynamics faculty was very excellent. In every year there was 2 semester and it is a little difficult. And before semester there was internal and viva.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Padmanava College of engineering is coming under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT , odisha). As there is always a myth about private colleges that they help in cheating but from my experience padmanava College is strictly against cheating and rather it supports quality of education. If you are a hard working student you will pass the exam very easily.
