What Students Say
Likes
- I really liked the structure of my course where it is more focused towards being practical.
- I have options for both LPU and Kalvium placement services.
- I got intership in my 3rd semester which is rare and also companies keep coming every quarter.
Dislikes
- Leave system keeps changing and currently you can't come in after 10:45 PM till 5AM in the campus if you took a night leave because of the policy.
Course Curriculum Overview
Generally in LPU, it is quite traditional, I mean students learn from slides and lack practical knowledge and experience. On the other hand, my course is under Kalvium and it comes under specialization, so I have some advantages in that all my teaching is practically based and we don't have teachers tutoring in the lectures rather we have live books which we use to study. I also got the opportunity of an internship in my 3rd semester. My course is very relevant as we start learning front-end in the first semester itself, that too with an introduction to git and GitHub, second semester includes react and backend which makes you a full stack web dev by the end of 1st year. So I'll say it is very practical. But yes we have to put in the time too, I mean my classes are literally from 9 - 6:30 with a one hour and a half hour break. And that too for 6 days a week, although normal lpu classes are quite relaxed, mine is just because of the course I chose.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are available starting from the 7th semester and there are a good number of companies, I have no idea about the stipends as of now. Under Kalvium internship start from 3rd semester itself and I was fortunate that I got one, the stipend was of 30000 per month and the duration was of 6 months.
Placement Experience
The campus placement is good and depends a lot on the student, companies do come for placements but the level of candidates are not up to the mark here so good packages are a bit less, there is a good number of companies coming to the university, overall 40% students get placed. My plan after getting the degree is that I'll accept whatever the best offer is so that I can increase my experience in the field and then switch job later.
Fees and Financial Aid
For B.Tech the fees are 120000 per semester and for my course it is 150000 per semester, it is fixed and it never increases till you graduate. The complete cost of my education is expected to be around 16,00,000. There are scholarship which can be availed under many criterias such as JEE, 12th boards and also LPUNEST and the amount depends on the score. I had an internship in my 3rd semester for 6 months as a full stack web developer and my stipend was 30,000 a month. This internship was not under LPU's placement services because they provide it in the 7th semester, this was from Kalvium under which I am doing my program and they promise internship opportunities from the 2nd year itself.
Campus Life
There are multiple events and fests happening at LPU, I don't know the names of events as such though. Also the library is well equipped with a lot of books of every field. The facilities of class is adequate, classes are equipped with AC's and every class has a projector. My classroom is also equipped with a dedicated Ethernet connection but this is specific to our course. Sports and extracurricular activities offered are quite impressive here at LPU, it has a big ground and a sports complex for indoor games and also many coaches for the same. LPU has DSW which is run by students and is responsible for clubs and all. I have no experience on what impact they do have on student life but they are quite active.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is average, although you have a lot of options to choose from but they are quite costly and the price point doesn't justify what you get in return. My room is Standard 4 seater AC for which I had to pay 90000, and all you'll get is a bed with no mattress, a chair and a table, there is only one bathroom and a washroom, both are separate though which is a good thing. The hostel mess is very bad according to taste and quality of food, and costs around 44000 for 3 time meals along with snacks in the evening. The registration process for Hostel is very easy and intuitive but it is on the expensive side considering what you get in return.
Admission
The admission process was quite smooth, just fill the form and pay 10000 for provisional admission, then you give the test(LPUNEST) and if you qualify you'll get scholarship based on your score, the eligibility for the course was 70%, the application fees was 1000. Application starts around June - July, be sure to apply as soon as the window opens because in the starting the scholarship you get is more compared to August and September. The exam is on the easier side and based on the 12th syllabus. Overall the admission process is quite easy.
