Course Curriculum Overview

The branch electrical is very widely appreciated and used and this college offered a lot of infrastructure. However, in reality the laboratories in the department are just for show and they dont allow you to touch the appliances.The teachers here are not able to express their knowledge if they have any, you will learn everything by yourself and your friends here only. There are 4 exams in a semester. Sessional 1( 25 marks ), Mid - Term( 40 marks ), Sessional 2 (Assignment based 25 marks)and the End Term( 60 Marks ).

Class Size: 30Course Fees: INR 53986 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for a semester is 26943 rupees. The hostel fees is 3500 rupees per semester. The mess fees in hostel varies from 2200- 2500 ruppes for a month and it depends on the hostel you have been alloted. If you are from Food Engineering, then you'll have to pay 1200 rupees for the laboratories every semester.

Campus Life

The campus life is good, but for central university the university is very much inclined towards the Assmese Culture which is nice thing but there little to no regards towards people form other states. There is no active clubs whatsoever.

Hostel Facilities

The Hostel facility is really good and almost all of students gets the hostel seats. The Mess fees is charged separately of every month and hostel which varies from 2200 - 2500. The food quality is decent.

Admission

I took admission via JOSSA. My Percentile in JOSSA was 93.5. Application form and fees was the standard JOSSA fees i.e. 35000. The exam was JEE Mains. The difficulty level was Mediocre. The exam took place two time a year, one in January and another in April. Admission Proces was fairly simple and online.

Interview Experience

2.5

There was not any Group Discussion, Interview for the admission. The only test which was required for the admission was the score of JEE Mains test. There is also another exam which only North Eastern people can give for the admission called TUEE. I was into the coaching that is specific to JEE preparation.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible to participate for Internship placements from 3rd year and FTE offer from 4th year starting. Overall the placements scenarios are pretty good considering it to be a NIT. The overall highest package goes to around 80 lac plus and the average package lies around 18 to 20 lac for CSE Department. The opportunities are great with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia coming for on campus opportunities providing agreat experience

Let's have a look what is going on inside NIT Silchar

Placement Experience:

From 5th sem students are allowed to participate in oncampus summar internship and from. 7th semester starting they are allowed for 6 month internship and Full time roles . There is a Training and placement Cell in our college there are some heads of this cell they are senior professors and it have final year students in senior coordinator position and 3 rd year study as probationary. Students bring the companies which fulfills the criteria of TNP cell and each company have their own eligibility criteria and selection procedure. Mostly companies allows 6 cgpa without any active backlog students . But some high paying companies requires 7 or more cgpa . In 3rd year Cisco , microsoft, public sapiens, Tech Mahindra, Accenture ,Oracle and many more companies visited in our campus and hired good amounts of students for summer internship and mostly offers full time role as ppo to students. In 4th year a lots of company like Novartis, amazon, flipkart,aditya birla, Cisco , Deloitte, oracle,ukg, Motorola, siemens , IBM and many more startups visited college and hired .Some paid 15+ CTC and some 6 to 10 CTC . Almost 40% of students are placed till December this year from each branch . Personally I'm planning for taking chances to get an online internship and then try to go for higher studies abroad in automation and robotics.

NIT Silchar Review: Campus, Career and Career Prospects

Placement Experience:

NIT Silchar has decent placement stat. Approx 75 percent student got placement from campus and they got decent package. In NIT Silchar from 7th semester students are eligible for placement and company comes whole year for recruiting. Approx 100 company visit the college throughout the year. In tech Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart and more companies come. For core L&T, Adani, Tata Steel and more companies come. For service base Infosys, TCS, Wipro will come and give good offer. Highest package will come from tech company and that is 52lpa and average from all companies will lie from 10 to 12 lpa . My plans is that in my 4th year atleast I will get one job. If I don't get job then I will try from off campus or giving paper for government job

Great college with decent infrastructure and a large campus

Placement Experience:

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute.The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.

A brief description about Tezpur University

As I had applied in Dibrugarh university also for the same course and I got there but I choosed Tezpur university rather than Dibrugarh university as because the reputation of both the universities are best in there own but TU is a central university and DU is a state university, so there will be much more opportunities and advancement in a central university then a state university and all the family members and others suggested me to take admission here...as Tezpur university is more famous and known by everyone then dibrugarh university. To take admission here and get enrolled in my course (MCA), we have to give an entrance exam which is called "TUEE" by qualifying this exam one can get admission here from any background in bachelor as because there are two MCA courses available here, one is breached and other is non-breached. Breached course is for people with other background in bachelors which is for 3years and Non-breached courses is for people with background in computer science in bachelors which is for 2years. The cutoff changes every year according. One can also get enrolled here in other courses and departments by qualifying exams like CUET, JEE, CAT, MAT etc...
