Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum in BITS Pilani is consists of both academic and industry experience. The academic curriculum consists of courses from your chosen degree and electives (optional subjects) from other branches as well. One can also pursue Miinor degrees like Finance,Data Science,Robotics etc along with their already chosen Major. The faculty in all departments is well qualified and research oriented providing a good environment for budding researchers. The Curriculum requires do a 6 month Practice School (Paid Work) or Thesis (Research) as a part of the academics. Many big tech, finance and core companies come to Bits for hiring through Practice School. Overall the curriculum is well balanced between engineering academics and industry relevance.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for a 4 year degree without any scholarships is about 25 lacs. However Bits Goa provides scholarships:- 1. Merit Scholarship - Awarded to those with outstanding academic performance irrespective of your academic background. Generally students with a 9.5+ cgpa are rewarded. 2. Merit Cum Needs Scholarship(MCN): Students with family income less than 12 lacs(this figure is subject to change) are rewarded these scholarships. A minimum cgpa criteria of 6 cgpa( on a 10 point scale) is also applied.
Campus Life
Bits Goa hosts three fests in a year :- 1. Cultural Fest - Waves one of the largest college fests of India is held during the month of October. This time of the year provides students with opportunity to interact with students from different backgrounds. 2. Sports Fest - Spree held during April attracts top college sports teams from all over India . 3. Tech Fest - Quark held during the month of March consists of many big tech firms and influencers providing workshops, talks and hackathons. There are others smaller fests/events like TedX, InterBITS, Zephyr(Interhostel Sports Tournament) etc happening all year around to keep the campus lively. There various clubs and departments to cater your interests.
Admission
Admission in Bits is done through BITSAT entrance exam. It takes places around May with Jee Mains. Other eligibility parameters include a minimum of 75% marks in class 12th. There are no reservation policies. The difficulty level of the exam is below Jee Mains and most people with good jee prep find it easy to crack BITSAT
