Chitkara university, Baddi review

The course I've opted for is BE CSE, in the first year the course contains maths, physics/ electronics, english, C language and frontend. The course is not very difficult overall. In the second semester English and frontend is removed and instead we have to create an integrated project in teams. This curriculum focuses on communication skills and basics of computer science in the beginning. The exams have a moderate difficulty and the exams are held every month.

Many companies visit here for internships but only some of the students get selected. One of our seniors have received an internship in Microsoft but it was an off campus placement. The nursing students get good internships.

From the sixth semester, the students are eligible for placements. There are campus placements available here. Many companies visit and take interview of students. The average package is six lakh per annum.

The tuition fees for 1st sem is 80,000 and for the next semesters it is 70,000. Campus employments are available in the university like photography, editing, business management and more. I have not yet taken any campus employment here. The university does not provide scholarship on the basis of class 12 result.

There are many clubs here: CSI(computer society of india), IEEE, GDC(Google developers club), ACM, Staccatos(dance), Euphany(music), Hostel committee etc. Many events are held in the campus but mostly for hostellers only as they are held at night. The library contains most of your academic books and some novels as well. NCC and NSS is also present in the university.

In the first year you can only opt for a 4 people sharing room. We have individual beds here(not bunk beds), the rooms have central cooling for summers. There is no balcony in the girls hostel and there is no central cooling in the boys hostel (they have coolers instead). The mess food is better than some other universities out there. The meals are fine and they provide milk 2 days a week and fruit only one day of the week. The fees for the hostel is 36,000 a semester (6 months).

The admission process was simple and involved filling an online form, the application fees for this form was 1000 rs. It had a cutoff of minimum 65% in 12th board exam and the student must've given the jee exam. There was no entrance exam. The final seats were announced on offline mode, at chitkara school punjab. I believe it would've been more efficient if the final admission process was online as we went home very late that night and many parents were getting agitated.
