Life at IIT Gandhinagar

My stream is computer science engineering. I chose this stream because I'm interested in a future in software. The IIT degree in computer science would help me to get into software fields. In our first year, we had courses related to all the fields which helped me to make my decision firm. We have labs, assignments and projects which give me a hold of how real-world applications would work. Improvement can be done in the grading policy. We have mainly two exams, one is mid sem and another is end sem. The difficulty of these exams is moderate.

Campus placements are offered in third year for internships and fourth year for jobs. Barclays, Infosys,TCS, Deloitte and they offer a lot of opportunities. For my branch that is computer science the average package is approximately 30000 and highest package 82000 CTC. In our branch 95 percent of the students are placed. My plans after getting the degree is to get placed in a good company at a good position.

We have to pay the fees for every semester and it may vary depending on the semester but it is almost 100000. Students are given the facility of scholarships but I don't get any scholarships because I'm not eligible. It is mostly for the students with less annual income. Campus offers a lot of help for the students who can't afford to pay the fees, it gives loans, scholarships and waivers.

There are two fests in our college, one is cultural fest and another is technical fest. These fests are conducted and organised by students from the scratch. There are organisations which fund these events. Library has a vast variety of books and they are easy to access. Classrooms are fully equipped with air condition, projector, and good facilities. Our college also encourages co-curricular activites. We have a compulsary course of physical exercise for the first 4 semesters. Clubs, social groups and fests are organised and taken care by the students. This helps us to manage things and teaches us a lot of things.

Rooms are fully furnished with beds, study tables and chairs, equipped with air conditioners and fans. Mess food is also good, it is prepared by high rated chefs and a lot of variety of items are provided. Registration is done at the starting of the semester and from second year we can chose the hostel, floor and the roomate. From 3rd year we have single rooms. I did not rent any room or PG.

We get into top rated government colleges like IIT, NIT or IIIT throughout jee exams. First you have to write mains and if got a good percentage above 85 you can get into NIT or IIIT depends on college cutoff this is for general category students then we can write advance if we got a good rank then we can get into IIT's Anyone who passed their 12th board is eligible for these exams. There are reservations available. Reservations of based on caste, economic background. Mains are generally moderate if you read Ncert books but advance is a little bit hard.
