Remarks
The college campus is quite big and diverse. Overall, quite pleasant.
Entrance Preview
The syllabus followed is unique and extensive, especially the prescribed books. This particular course follows a genre based introduction to literature rather than the chronological one followed by the majority of the conventional, University prescribed courses.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very unique. The course is relatively new and experimental, but the results are encouraging. The curriculum is very modern and updated while still remaining through with regards to the traditional curriculum. The prescribed books are educative and entertaining.
Internships Opportunities
As far as my knowledge extends, this particular department doesn't offer any internships. However, the college does assign students mentors who are willing to help us with finding internships.
Placement Experience
The college does have placements and job opportunities. However, as a second year, I am not completely aware of how the system works. There are student representatives for each class who will coordinate with the professor-in-charge and provide information to their classmates about job opportunities.
College Events
The college has three residence halls for men and three for women. All the halls celebrate there own separate fests through out the year. The college has Auditions at the beginning of the academic year to form teams for inter-college competitions. All the departments have their own fests and one huge college fest called Deepwood.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The courses are separated into morning and evening shifts. The morning shift is government aided and therefore the fee structure is more feasible. Whereas the evening shift is self-financed and therefore more expensive. To be noted, the morning shift is difficult to get into.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are a fair amount of scholarships available for minorities and backward classes and quite a few available based on merit.
Campus Life
The college is extremely rich with regards to campus life as there are many clubs and teams to be part of. Theatre 59 is a theatre group. A lot of literary and debate competitions happen very often throughout the year as every department holds their own fests.
Hostel Facilities
The college boasts residential halls instead of hostels as all residence halls are managed by the students. There are three halls for men and three for women, each with its own proud history and traditions. The facilities and the food are decent (as far as I have heard).
Alumni/Alumna
The senior students are extremely helpful and welcoming. They make sure to help out the freshers with any college-related problems.
Exam Structure
The college has three internal exams or CAs, two of which take place in the months of August and September(for the odd semester). The third internals is in the form of assignments and seminars. The marks recorded are best two of three. The internals is conducted by the professors whereas the end of semester exams are conducted by external instructors.
Admission
I submitted my application and all the documents via the college's online portal. The merit based selection list was posted online after a month. I then attented the 2-3 day admission process at the college (on site) where I had to submit the hard copies of all the documents.
Faculty
The faculty is amazing. All of the professors are well read and genuinely enjoy the subjects that they are teaching us. They are very friendly and welcoming. Majority of the classes are quite enjoyable and we often look forward to it. They often use documentaries and such to ensure we understand the topics thoroughly.
