Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

VIT Bhopal prepares a student for industry-oriented education. Many courses also include projects and internships that provide practical experience with real-world applications of the concepts learned, which prepares them for the workplace environment. The curriculum includes a good mix of core courses and electives, allowing the student to explore areas of interest. The only thing I can suggest for area of improvement is sometimes there are some compulsory electives which make the course seems unbalanced. The semester lasts for 4 months, and frequency of exams are standard. Midterm exams are held within 1 and a half months of the semester and term end in the final month, along with the required internal assessments. Difficulty level is moderate as long as one follows the lectures and notes provided in class by the faculty, although it tends to vary on the faculty itself.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

VIT Bhopal's placement cell has a strong industry network with numerous companies across various sectors, including IT, engineering, consulting and finance. Some examples based on placement reports include Intel, Bosch, Amazon, Microsoft, Tata Motors, TCS, Accenture, Wipro etc. The specific roles offered will vary depending on the company and program of study. The stipend offered will also vary according to the company and role. Internship projects are designed to provide students with practical experience in the field of study. One might be involved in tasks related to: a) Developing software applications b) Designing and analyzing engineering systems c) Assisting with data analysis tasks etc. The valuable outcomes that one can achieve is gaining work experience, developing new skills, building a professional network and finally being able to potentially secure a full-time job offer with the company after graduation. For securing an internship one must keep on developing new skills.

Placement Experience

3.5

Generally students in the final year become eligible for campus placements. VIT Bhopal records a high placement rate exceeding 85% for the past few years. Over 700 companies have participated in placement for the 2022-23 batch, including some prominent recruiters like Microsoft, Intel, Amazon etc. Highest package has included around Rs 50 LPA, and average package can sustain the individual enough. VIT Bhopal's curriculum focuses on industry-oriented education, including projects or internships that provide practical experience, enhancing resumes and interview skills. They also organise various workshops and seminars offered by the placement cell to develop skills, along with technical events.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure depends on the program you choose, as for now I can only provide insight on their B.Tech programme: - around Rs 2 lakhs per year, and hostel fees is around Rs 1.5 lakhs. Mess facilities include Rs 70000 approx for the year. For the girls' hostels, single bedded and AC rooms of all types cost the highest. Scholarships are offered to people who have a rank from 1-1000 from the VITEEE exam, or with exceptional performance for the 10+2 board examinations. Reservations also offer certain scholarships. During the third year of university students go for industrial training for around 15 days to gain experience, as well as work study programs in 4th year benificial for placements. There are various internships opportunities as long as the student can develop the necessary skills for the same.

Campus Life

4

VIT Bhopal, due to its location in the central part of the country, attracts students from various states and regions of India, creating a multicultural and multilingual environment. This makes a great environment for knowing various new people with different backgrounds. VIT also takes ragging very seriously so there are almost little to no instances of those happening here. The seniors are also very helpful and friendly and readily guide the juniors if required. Hostel life is quite enjoyable too. There are over a 100 technical and non-technical clubs and each club takes initiatives in hosting various events throughout the years. In fact there is an annual event named AdVITya held in the month of February every year over a span of 3 days, focusing on said events and making students able to showcase their expertise, participation and talent, along with inviting a renowned artist to the campus as well. The infrastucture is wonderful with well equipped labs, classrooms and a library.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The Hostel facility is above average in my experience. The Girls' Hostel has spacious rooms depending on the room type, varying from single to 5 bedded rooms. The student can choose between AC and non AC rooms but that depends on the hostel index rank, which is determined during hostel counselling held beforehand and preference of choice. If a student has genuine issues staying in a particular room type, they can change their room accordingly when the opportunity is given after a week or so from boarding. Hostels also have additional facilities like a gym, and currently as of writing this a swimming pool is under construction, and readily available medical facilities. Meals are also decent, multi cuisine with options and given in proper quantities required by the student. Most importantly the campus including hostels have a tight 24/7 security so parents and families can rest assured in that aspect. Applications for the hostel facilities are submitted during the admission process.

Admission

The admission process varies depending on the program we're applying for: One needs to pass 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with a minimum percentage of marks (usually around 60% or higher). Depending on whether you've chosen Mathematics or not you can choose your branch later. For B.Tech programmes you need to take the entrance exam named VITEEE. The application form, fees and dates are available on their official website itself. The difficulty level is standard as expected of a 10+2 student, it is required that the student is familiar with the basic concepts.

You become eligible to sit for placements in 7th semester , that is , in your 4th year. There are companies like Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Accenture, Axxela, American Express, BNY Melon, Adobe , Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Optum, Oracle, etc. But in other IITs which are also 2nd generation, more companies (around 50) comes for on campus placements . The highest pay is mostly for Software development and Quant roles. Last year it was around 1 Cr per annum of a Computer Science student which is really great. And the average package was around 25-26 Lakhs per annum. Last year , around 88% of all students including B.tech and M.tech got placed with decent salary.
