Remarks

High restrictions in consideration for a college life. No campus grounds or space. No parking space for students provided. Decisions suggested by students not given much priority by administrative section.

Entrance Preview

Best in private colleges in Kerala at reasonable fees for merit seat... Medical services are given at low cost which attracts many patients to approach this hospital and thus provide students with much exposure in the clinical side. Clean and safe mess facilities and hostel accommodation

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It's definitely tough, requires regular and repeated studies for better understanding.although it's the clinical side which matters more in future practice. which depends upon the specific college academic departments. Many departments fulfill the standards but some fail to.

Internships Opportunities

A one-year mandatory internship at college is there after completing the course in the same college or a college of choice for all were 12,000rs monthly is currently paid for those working at the same college. For scholarship holders there might be an additional period of duty. The overall work during this period is very hefty.

Placement Experience

1

No placements for medical college except that they are given priority to work in their own college. Job opportunity currently is high for doctors.

College Events

3.5

Arts fest Sports fest Intercollege sports Intermedicos Convocation ceremonies Special events as per college administration and union decision

Fee Structure And Facilities

Merit list fees currently are around a total of 5.5/6 lakhs per year for 5 years. NRI seats are at around 90 lakhs for the whole course. Although it seems expensive, it is considered the same for all around the regions. Also, admission is only based on merit, hence having a lot of money and no merit might not be an option to get admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, for different eligible candidates. Under any reservation category. They are provided with a reduction in fees and also all students are considered for scholarship prizes and best students receive cash awards or gold medals.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is fine with friends and city life, but no campus grounds or recreational spaces available. it's completely filled with buildings. Gender ratio shows about 60 to 70% female majority. Extracurricular activities are all at high standards but under great restrictions.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

70% satisfactory with mess facilities. 85% for hostel facilities. Hostels are daily cleaned and wastes taken out bathrooms are neat. A central kitchen prepares food for the whole hospital. Taste and quantity might b a matter of concern for some, but safety is ensured.

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni group formed till now. Seniors are highly helpful. they are an inevitable part of medical college life.

Exam Structure

A completely KUHS university-based theory exam is conducted for all colleges in the state except deemed ones. Practical exams are conducted under college guidance. 50% marks are necessary to pass the exams.

Admission

I got admission through christian quota....wer cumulative score of my neet entrance and 12th marks wer taken and put up on merit list....through which i got admitted in the 2nd allotment. Fees directly paid to college and and got admitted soon. Hostel fees and mess facilities taken separately if needed.

Faculty

4

Much of the departments are highly efficient both in theory and practical exposure, but some departments fail to provide so. Approachable at any time for assistance.exams conducted at regular intervals. Overall great experience. Internship although strenuous duties provide great exposure.

Kerala University of Health Sciences - [KUHS], Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Reviewed on Nov 30, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.
