Remarks
Positives - Best academic environment - Expert staff - More than enough patients - Opportunity for research studies Negatives - No campus (almost all area filled with hospital buildings) - Comparatively weaker extracurricular activities
Course Curriculum Overview
A good professional course.Curriculum has revised recently, to accommodate medical ethics & updation in course structure. This is a four and a half year course ( 1st professional, 2nd professional, final year part 1 & final year part 2). After this student has to complete CRRI training (House Surgeoncy)
Placement Experience
After completing five and half year course you can do a junior residentship in this hospital itself. There is plenty of opportunities in other hospitals also. One year internship is mandatory & payment in that duration is actually not satisfactory ( 12000 INR)
College Events
College Arts Day College Sports Day Onam Celebration Christmas Celebration Ethnic day Focus national level OBG training programme Many CMEs PROMPTUS all kerala quiz All kerala neuro quiz Online competitions
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is actually little expensive ( six and a half for five years - total thirty two lakh+, but if we compare it with other private medical colleges it's not that high (eight to eleven lakh per year)
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
College dose provide a cash award to students with good marks other than that there is no scholarship directly from college. But scholarships are available for students from low socio-economic backgrounds from kerala & national governments
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities are comparatively weaker in Jubilee mission medical college and research institute. There is a good sports ground, indoor stadium for badminton, cricket nets, basketball court, other areas for games like kho-kho, volleyball etc. College has a good laboratory facility. Cultural activities & competitions are also there.
Hostel Facilities
I have opted for hostel. Hostel infra structure is good or satisfactory. Hostel fee is also less ( 23000 INR per year). From my experience that is a cheaper rate among private medical colleges in kerala.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is currently really weak because medical college is only 17 years old. First alumni meet has organised this year July. I hope that's going to be a good start for an organised alumni group
Admission
1) Write medical entrance exam ( when I was writing it wad kerala entrance examination, but now admission is through NEET - which is a national level entrance exam) 2) Allotted by kerala entrance commissioner
Faculty
Best faculties in kerala. Most of the private medical college in kerala doesn't have enough faculties. Here in my college there is more than needed expert faculties. Patient is the best teacher of a doctor, in that sense too it's a good college, because college has enough patient load.
