Remarks

A very good experience overall. But learning is self taught mostly. It depends on the personal interests and dedication. The most important thing is exposure which is good in this college.

Entrance Preview

I got in this college through JEE mains paper 2 which is dedicated for architecture and planning. Though I scored a good mark of 228 I got less all India ranking due to the start of normalization from our batch onwards. I finished my schooling in TN state board which gave me less ranking. I got this college in spot round. But the scenario now is different. Our college cutoff is ending at 1000 to 1500 all India rank

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is a good one. Spav is a deemed and autonomous college which gives the college a right to have there own syllabus and marking procedures. The syllabus followed is SPA delhi's with a few changes and differences in the elective subjects. Few subjects felt like its not updated yet but overall syllabus was good where you learn many facets of architecture. Architecture is a wide-scoped course after which you can join into many other profession such as design, planning, management, etc.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is compulsory for a semester in fourth year as part of the curriculum. The college does not help in finding internship. you will have to do it ourselves. In case somebody is not able to find it at all then the faculty help those ppl.

Placement Experience

3.5

Only in the year 2018 placement has started in the college. The placements are not conducted yet, but, this year, they are trying to bring the companies, which is not yet successful, but hopefully, it will happen soon. The planning department has a placement cell, but the architecture departments do not. This year, a mail to various architectural firms were sent regarding the placements. But no official announcement is made yet.

College Events

5

There are very few events that happen in the college, and all of them are intra-college events. There is participation and interaction with any other local college. But during the recent fest, we had students from 5 other colleges, and this time, it happened quite well. Hope this trend continues.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it is govt. College the fess is low when we studies. But now it has increased. Our batch had to pay around 70k per year whereas the newly joined students of 2017 batch are paying more than 1 lakh. Exact fee structure is provided in the college website

Fees and Financial Aid

The only scholarship available are Andhra Pradesh state govt scholarships. That is eligible only for students from ap state. Other than that SC and ST students get a few perks from the central govt like money for buying laptop and few other concessions

Campus Life

3

The campus life is really. That is the most important reason why I would suggest you to join any central govt institute and especially architecture course. The exposure we got was very good. We came to know the traditions and practices of almost every state in India. We used to celebrate all state's festivals and know about them. I learnt two new languages after joining in this college and got a better proficiency in English too. The students are very diverse natured.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni association has been recently activated from last year. But as individuals the bonding among seniors and juniors is very good. There is no ragging or any criminal offense being done in the college. No bullying or any other act to hurt anyone. Safety is very good in the college.

Exam Structure

The architecture profession as such is a very hectic one. The students do a lot of night outs in general to complete the work. It's all mostly practical work. There are very less theory subjects to study. But ultimately due to the amount of work students must be ready for sleepless nights and expenditure on print outs and stationery.

Admission

Once the spot round ended we just had two days gap to report in the college. The college administration was quite supportive during the admission procedures. The application and filling of choices can be done in any national institutes like nit, spa, iiit or iit. It is different in different states. Once your choice is locked reporting to the college has to be done.

Faculty

2.5

There are many experienced and well qualified faculty. But there are few junior faculty who don't have much experience as well. But like every other college there are lot of internal politics and partialities played here too. But I see it inevitable anywhere in India as far as I know.

The semester is 6 months long but you complete the semester in 4 months itself. Due to Covid the academic circulum hot disturbed. They added 2- months of summer internship basically you don't have summer holidays. If you like the subjects you don't feel stress throught the semester you may feel stress during submissions

Course Curriculum Overview:

I basically opted because it's no MPC tho there's a little maths it's still manageable because it is school level. It does prepare well for the real world but I wish it doesn't only stick traditionality but also international since graduated students can't directly intern in foreign countries unless they do masters over there. Design exams are 5hrs and others are 3hrs. You might find it difficult if you didn't do research on the respective topic otherwise you're always good to go. Frequency is moderate for exams. I wish faculty is kire about what to bring in a student rather than leaving us to figure out on our own and giving a hand full of time than less time and more work

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for placements after they finish their 5th year or during the 10th semester. Students have to go on internships for one semester mandatorily in their fourth year which is the 7th semester for which they get stipend of around 10-15k for a duration of 6 months. The average package offered by the placements is somewhere around 3-4 lakhs per annum but then again is depends on the work of the student and their potential.
