Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum are well made since the college is autonomous they make it really compressed and hence the students only get what they want and avoid all other unnecessary informations which make the learned topics secured in long term memory .Saintgits students are however well aware of all the course outcomes where the teacher teaches each module by introducing its vision, and real world applications .Teaching hours and portions to be covered are planned as per academic Callender and each and every teacher makes sure they are doing accordingly. The problem I think is that thought there are many teachers who are aganist it teaching is spoon fed where students are made no efforts from their side rather than mugging up things provided in the PPT. There are 2 internal exams before the end semester exams. One semester will have duration of 3 to 3 and half months usually .hence most months will exams and its result, improvement and supplementary exams takes place without any delay

Fees and Financial Aid

Each course offered by Saintgits has a different fee structure. For food technology, the even semester will have 65000 and the odd semester is 37000 and some other for miscellaneous are also taken. undertaking keam rank and 12th board marks scholarships are also provided. Those students who get scholarships need not to pay tuition fees. There won't be any pressure for not paying fees on time. Any inconvenience can be referred to HOD who will make the necessary arrangements. Some other scholarships for minority castes, low annual income, and one girl-child families are also provided. Campus employment opportunities for the food technology department are very low considering other branches. Most of the opportunities come from banks rather than food companies

Campus Life

2

There are only 1 festival week where inter college technical fest 'Shrishti', inter college cultural fest 'Nakshathra', college cultural fest'Prathitya' Take place. From my experience, Saintgits never promotes or gives support to budding talents rather they encourage students with experienced talent. Dance club is active but they don't provide any additional help for its growth. The music club is there but half dead. The fashion show team is there with no club and the college never does anything to make this better. It has a pretty decent library, a normal classroom with a blackboard, projector and plenty of benches. Though there are sports held annually, Saintgits never do anything for the betterment of students in sports, they never provide funds for inter-college tournaments.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is pretty good though they force girls to enter college before 6 pm and boys have to enter before 7 30 pm without much unnecessary criteria.st therras international hostel has well maintained rooms and bathroom .the maintenance is excellent since they do the needful the very next day after a complaint has been registered. Hostel mess has decent foods as compared to other hostel ..they offer chicken most of the days and most of all the south indian breakfast are provided. Special north Indian foods are also given for north indian students. Mess fee will range from 3000 to 4000 monthly and allowances are made for students from Wayanad and Idukki.students can opt for single room with/without bathroom or room for 3 ppl.

Admission

First of all,one should pass keam exam for getting admission in any engineering colleges in kerala which happens once a year and also one who has passed 12th with minimum 65% mark can easily crack keam exam.PCM marks are taken on average with 12th board marks are added to put on the rank.Reservations for SC,ST,OBC etc...also decide rank. Each colleges have a certain ranks needed for alloting govt seats. In saintgits you may need in between 10000 to 15000 ranks to get merit seat. However saintgits offer scholarships to students with 12 marks 90% and above. For the admission criteria, one can submit an online form and can visit college in person for securing seats.

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
