Remarks

Yeah the management is the worst . No one is supportive to the students . The college imposes very hefty fine on even small things . It's all about money what college looks for.

Entrance Preview

The entrance exam for this college is JEE mains . There is no cutoff for this college as the seats never get completely filled . The counciling is done basis of merit , sorted according to your JEE main rank.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is very good and strong. It focuses on the current gate syllabus .The curriculum matches by 90% with the competitive exam syllabus, which later prooves out to be beneficial. If you study by yourselves ( which I'll explain later why) ,then you can crack the competitive exam by simply studing the syllabus.

Internships Opportunities

Yes , college does . But the benchmark is too high .I would consider only for mechanical engineering , only one student from our batch (out of 29 ) was capable of getting scholarship . Even that was very low , around 50 % of tution fee .I said low as most of us can get the same amount twice a year through the state government scholarships , without any cutoff.

Placement Experience

2

Honestly speaking , It's the worst part of the college . Currently , we don't have our own placement cell . We rely on the placement cell of our main campus ,ie the BIT MESRA'S placement cell. So whenever the company comes for recruitment , we have to travel all the way to ranchi to attend the recruitment process, where again we face lot's of discrimination .

College Events

0.5

There are 4 festivals which take place every year - vishwakarma puja, independence day, Saraswati Puja and republic day. Apart from these , one techno cultural fest called UTTHAAN takes place every year . Its a three day long event . Another fest of our literary society called Arora takes place every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

This is the part no one likes. The fee structure is like an electricity bill , which increases day by day but you can't do anything . It costs whooping 12 lakhs (roughly) with zero facilities to complete the engineering from this college ,where, as I earlier mentioned you won't get any exposure .

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes . If you belong to reserve category (obc,sc,st) , then you can apply for your state government scholarships . You can cover up atleast 20% of your fees per year through this.

Campus Life

1

The campus has a one main ground , which is both used for cricket and football (lol) . So its obvious that you can't play both at same time. Apart from it , we have basketball and volleyball court. I would have added badminton court to but it's outdoor and not well maintained .By the way you can always play chess in your respective rooms (pun intended) .In mechanical engineering, there are no girls , so now you can calculate the sex ratio .There are various societies for drama , robotics , automobile ,etc . but none of them are active .

Hostel Facilities

2.5

As I said before , the whole campus lacks facilities. The hostel is equipped with high speed WiFi , a common room with a 41 inch led tv and a table tennis and carrom setup . The mess food can be rated average , depending upon the cost and it provides 4 times meal.

Alumni/Alumna

The only people that are helpful in college are seniors - be it about curriculum or placements . The alumni network is strong as the relationship with our seniors is.

Exam Structure

The exams are too hectic . Firstly we don't have much time. Plus we have to give exams in three steps - internals , mid sem and end sem ; each of 15,25,&60 marks respectively . Now there internals can take place at any time of year , depending on mood of your assigned faculty . And the remaining 2 take place at the fixed time.

Admission

The procedure is very simple. Just go to the website of BIT MESRA - select Admissions option and the steps are mentioned further on. Once the online process is completed ( which includes the fee for application), next you'll be called for counciling in around a week . Here , you have to submit your details (rank card, marksheet and all) .

Faculty

1.5

The faculties are not of very satisfying level . Although almost all of them are PhD in their respective fields , very few of them have the practical knowledge . But that's what happens in engineering college , you get lecturers ; not teachers . So you have study by your own ,and even make the project by your own.

Mechanical branch in terms of number of students placed is quite high but if it is about how many students get elite packages it's less. The average for our branch at our college is 8-9 lakhs but top companies which are into our core space for long are our college partners.

My plans after degree is to pursue masters or right away get on with my family business as we are already into trading chemicals. However, from the number of students from our stream that apply for jobs through campus, over 80% are placed from campus. Labs to industries that deals in manufacturing of chemicals and exporting the same are the ones where students of our college get the opportunity.

Highest package from our campus is eye catching as it's 56 lakhs and for chemical branch it was 34 lakhs. HUL, Sun Pharma, public limited labs and various R&D research centres are those that have helped us to get best available jobs in market as the competition is high but BIT Mesra has still managed to place over 80% students last year.

From second semester we are taken for an hour session for special training. It is optional till 4th semester but from 5th semester onwards, it becomes mandatory and we have no choice but to go through that hammer. Finally, from the last year's 1st semester companies starts coming and we can apply for the same and that is how placements are done here.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities is decent for students. The placement of BIT sindri varies from branch to branch but the core brances like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering has evergreen placements. Among the eligible students around 90 percent students get placed. But in branches like civil and production engineering, its not the same. They have very low placement rate around 20 to 30% of eligible students get placement. For CSE, IT & ECE the placement is highly dependent on the situation of market and it varies early. The students are eligible from 6 the semester onwards for placement . The placement drive starts from August or September and companies visit till students graduate. The top recruiters are TCS with more than 80 students from overall campus , TATA power nearly 20 , LNT, JSW , Vedanta , TATA STEEL, JSL, ADANI, ABG , Shyam steel and For it sector companies like samsung , cognisant, hitachi, TCs, Spyder visited for 2k21 batch. For the batch 2020-2024 among batch size of 710 around 620 offers were made. The highest package is given by samsung which is around 28 LPA , students of CSE, IT, ECE and Electrical are eligible. For IT sector average package is around 6 lakhs. For core sectors companies heightest package is offered by vedanta to Electrical, Mechanical, Mining which is around 14 lakhs average package is around 7 LPA.. Around 75- 80 percent students get placed during campus placement drive. The Wish to crack GATE and join PSU after my graduation.
