Remarks

Good things are availabilty of all the facilities, related to academics as well as non- academic. However, the students which join the college are all very talented so the insti can quickly become a lonely place if one is not able to cope up with academic

Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE and got AIR 1457. I had the option of going to other IITs with a different branch or to BITS PILANI. I would have got any branch in BITS but I mainly prefferred IIT because of its brand name. Moreover, I wanted Electronics and this was the college nearest to my home and the best IIT in terms of ranking in which I would have gotten EC.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure which we went through was pretty bad but now it has been changed since last 2-3 years. The new structure is much better. The concept of major and minor degree has been introduced. The faculty I would rate as below average. In every dept. there will two or three good professors but besides that rest all the courses you will on your own.

Internships Opportunities

I interned in an startup Nexus Engiconsults pvt Ltd. I got it off campus. The stipend was Rs. 8500 p.m. Before that I was rejected in on campus interviews in Samsung, Wipro and Future First. The internship experience was quite good. Being a startup I became friendly with all the employees. There was not much work pressure but still I got to learn a lot.

Placement Experience

4

In my year, there were lot of companies which came for placements so the placement scenario was quite good. However, for people looking for placement in core branches, the options would be few. There would be a lot of software and finance companies which will visit the campus. The company list is exhaustive which includes over 200 companies including all tech giants like Google, microsoft, amazon, etc. However, there will still be few companies less than other IITs. The packages vary from 200,000 $ to as low as 3.5 lakh p.a.

College Events

3.5

There is usually one cultural fest by the name of Thomso and one technical fest by the name of Cognizance. Both are usually quite big with atleast 1000 outside students visiting the campus. Besides that some years there is also a sports fest which is a relatively low key affair.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had not availed any Loans but education loan for IITs is easily available. Several of my friends took it. I didn't get any scholarship but if one's fathers income is less than 4.5 lakhs one can easily get Merit Cum Means scholarship. There will be several other scholarships available in which one can apply.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is good with lots of freedom to go out and come back any time. Gender ratio is pretty bad with about 10% girls only. There are lots of clubs in robotics, photography, fine arts, software dev., gardening, etc. One can practically do anything one likes. Sports facility is also very huge and good with almost all outdoor games such as cricket, football, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball and many more.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels are good with high speed LAN available in all. Except for a few rooms in some hostels, most hostels have single rooms only. Certain facilities like fooseball table, TV room, carroms, volleyball court, badminton court, etc. are also there. The host

Alumni/Alumna

Since ragging has been stopped the interaction between seniors and juniors has decreased quite a lot. I haven't had any touch with alumni as well. However, if one is active in extra curricular activities, one will be able to make much needed contacts with seniors and alumni.

Placement Experience:

The placements are very good. Being an old IIT many good companies arrive on campus in the final year of your undergrad and post grad. The placement cell is very active throughout the year and provide help and support to any person seeking it. The career development cell is another good initiative to help student in pursuing their goals.

Indian Institute of Remote Sensing - [IIRS], M.Tech In Remote Sensing & GIS (with Specialization in Water Resources)
Reviewed on Jun 8, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Remarks:

For the higher studies in Remote Sensing & GIS, IIRS (ISRO) is the best institute in India. The personal preference would be Masters over the Diploma course since the Masters programme includes a 14 month project towards the end of the course, in which the researcher gets to work under the guidance of experienced scientists from ISRO. A drawback of the course would be that the syllabus is demanding and the exams are tightly scheduled.

Remarks:

As my previous experience was in Bridge Engineering , so on the basis of that IIT ROORKEE is best among others ,as it offers a course named as Masters in Structural Engineering with diversification in Bridge Engineering , which makes to choose this Institute specifically over others.Admission took place though multiple doors :- First is through GATE Score without any GD or PI or both Second one is through Sponsored Category like of mine Third one is through Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) For more information on admission you may refer to IIT ROORKEE PG Admission latest Information Brochure.I think it is not a Bad aspect of institute , but Institute must do certain reforms in it's admission process as till now IITR took admission directly on the basis of GATE SCORE for M.Tech / MURP courses which , but I will suggest that in future IIT ROORKEE must took admission for the same programme through GATE Score as well as GD or PI or Both , result of which it increase the opportunities of many relatively lower GATE scores candidates to took dream of doing their Masters from reputed IIT ROORKEE For Dates Tentatively application started from the month of April every year Last date to submit the application - last of April Results announced through COAP portal ( you need to separately register yourself on COAP portal to participate in the counselling process of all IIT's) in multiple rounds along with some Additional round & spot round I don't search or see any forum or websites or blog while selecting this college because in my previous company I made many visits to IIT ROORKEE by which I came to know many more about it automatically .
