What Students Say
Likes
- Placements, internships are the best of this college. But apart from that the fests are pretty good and the classrooms and hostels are the best among nits.
- Hostels are just too good like boys get single room right from their 2nd semester with balconies.
- The college atmosphere is calm and soothing.
Dislikes
- It's not a closed knit college so outsiders are allowed to pass through.
- Attendance is made hectic nowadays 75% compulsory.
- At times the college administration is pathetic.
Course Curriculum Overview
I love solving coding questions and had a profound interest in programming since my school days so I was very clear that I wanted computer science branch in my bachelor's. In nit jsr the faculty is to student ratio is around 25:1. The faculty here are all PhD holders with significant amount of practical experience in their areas of research. Their teaching method is not obselete but very engaging so it makes the classroom atmosphere lively. The classrooms are big and fully air conditioned along with projectors and beautiful benches. The exams are taken very timely and even if you study 2 weeks before the exams you will succeed well enough.
Internships Opportunities
The internships in our college is awesome specially the cse, ece and eee branches. In my branch cse, 40 students backed intern offers from companies like Atlassian (1.3lpm), Google (1.2lpm), Cisco(0.98lpm), Intuit (1lpm), Citi Bank (75kpm), Microsoft (1.25lpm), Salesforce (1.5lpm)
Placement Experience
The placements are the USP of nit jsr. In the 3rd year itself we are eligible for on campus internship opportunities. Being from the cse branch around 40-50 students of my class bagged internship offers from top MNCs in India and abroad like Google, atlassian, Microsoft etc. Companies that visit our college are like BNY mellon, Citi Bank, Google, atlassian, Microsoft, Cisco, cloudera, rubrik, fastenal, cultfit, ge healthcare, Airtel and many more. Highest package is 83lpa and average of cse is 27-28 lpa and all branches combined 15.98 lpa. Around 98% students get placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for students who do not avail any kind of fee remmision is around 8-9 lakhs for 4 years but for those whose family income is less than 1 lakhs they hardly have to pay any fees and for those whose income lies between 1-5 lakhs they have to pay around 5 lakhs. There are numerous scholarships available in the college. In 3rd years we get internships through which you can earn around 3-4 lakhs in 2 months.
Campus Life
The campus life is awesome with frequent branch fests, cultural fests and tech fest. Our main cultural fest is CULFEST and tech fest is OJASS which are conducted in the month of February and April respectively. Our central library is huge which has an unlimited supply of journals and books and a calm place to study with free wifi. Our classrooms are huge with modern infrastructure, centralised aur conditioned and beautiful. Our main sports fest is called URJA and is held in the month of October. We have numerous clubs for each and every genre and skill to promote extra curricular activities. For example the official programming club of nit jsr PCON run by the cse branch, the literary and debating club LDS and many more.
Admission
So, to get into a NIT you need to give the JEE MAINS examination when you are in your 12th boards. You need to prepare for this examination mostly by studying ncert textbooks for physics chemistry and maths of class 10 and 12. Try to score around 96+ percentile (for the general category students)to get a decent branch in a reputed NIT. For getting cse in a top nit you need to score 99+ percentile if you are from the other state whereas the home state students get a benefit of home state quota. There is a significant reservation for female students as well as EWS, OBC, SC and SC category students. The admission process is simple. Firstly you need to give the JEE mains exam, then once the results come out you'll start with the counselling process in which you need to fill your choices of college and branches as well. Once the counselling ends you need to report to the college for physical reporting.
