Fees and Financial Aid

Actually, every college of Delhi University has an individual scheme for the scholarship. It is only Depends on college .if you got a good college than chances of the good scholarship is good. I want to say that It is not easy to get a scholarship in Delhi University but some college provides scholarship on the basis of some parameters suggested by a college. If you are in North campus than a lot of opportunities of getting a scholarship is flattering near you bcos if you are good in studies then will provide you some scholarship but for this, you may face some problems. Now talks about how they(college) provide you scholarship: 1). If you are financially weak then they, maybe, give you a fees relaxation so you will have to pay only 10% of fees after getting this scholarship .for this, you have to write an application to office/principal by giving sufficient information about your problem, they will give you this scholarship. 2). If you are good in playing or any extracurricular activities then it will be a boon for you bcos du gives an opportunity to show your strength anywhere and for this, DU issues a budget for extra activities. For this, you have to enroll in any extra activity, in which you are good and have to do your best. 3) See, at the time of admission, you will get a prospectus of college, in which you receive all information about college so after getting this, check scholarship section of that college .if you find good then take admission and be aware of every notification issued by college related to scholarship. You can also download it from college website.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are many colleges of du which is providing hostel facility to the students. Also, the restrictions are there in Du hostel. They have a particular time to move in and out of the hostel and you cannot go out of hostel whenever you want. Also, the no of seats are limited. So there is a company name which provides fully furnished comfortable homes on rent near North Campus, at reasonable rates and gives you hassle-free living with many facilities like to, water, air conditioner, power backup etc. The room rent in this varies from 700 to 15000. There are many advantages living in coho pg as you will be able to get wholesome meals, 24×7 housekeeping, dedicated study rooms, WiFi facility. Also, you would have your own privacy and safety. Moreover, there would be no restriction and you can go and check out the places in North Campus. Also, you can go shopping at one of the best Kamala Nagar market and gorge on tasty delicacies and affordable food. So check out Coho for a wonderful experience.

Alumni/Alumna

Under CBCS system attendance is not an issue, Currently, I am in 6th semester and in last 5 semesters, I haven’t had a single semester when my attendance was more than 40%, but in 6th semester that is ongoing semester for me, college issued a notice that they won’t issue admit cards if attendance is less than 67%. So it depends on your college, just ask the senior of that particular college about the present scenario. There are few of my classmates whose attendance isn’t even 10% and they are confident they will get their admit cards by one way or other. To be on safe side, just ask your seniors.

Admission

Admission process will be only online from this year for DU. If you are willing to take admission in UG, you have to fill the registration form available at Delhi University's official site, calculate your best four marks and have to wait for the cutoffs. Whenever cutoffs will be released, tally your best four marks with cutoff of particular college interested in and apply online. All further procedure will be given at your portal. When calculating your best four marks, include one language and rest three subjects. For science stream, you only have to consider best three subject marks leaving the language. Admission in business courses will be entrance based in which you have to pass the entrance exam conducted by DU every year and further process remain same. If you want to take admission in PG, you have to pass the entrance exam conducted by DU in which the question will be objective type. After passing the entrance exam, you will be eligible for admission in DU. However if you are graduated from DU with good marks, half of the seats are filled on merit basis. Hope this will help you. All the best!

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option
