My 1 sem experience in IIT Madras

One of the only 2 IIT's which offered B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering. We have around 25-30 faculty. Qualification of faculty depends on each some are P.hd Scholar, M.Tech in top institution of the world, Ex-Navy and Professional who take up courses related to real world practical knowledge contents.

I am currently in my 1st year and I am not doing any internship right now. So, I have nothing to saw about my experience in internship. But internship will be offered from 6-8th Sem and department will help in availing the internship.

Placements happens during the vacation after the 7th sem each year. There are more than 100 companies visited each year for placement. The highest offer in Naval architecture for last year was 50LPA and average was 18LPA

The Fees of the course is ~?2,25,000/yr. There are scholarships & fee waiver based on category & annual income. College in assist in availing scholarship offered by NSP and other trust providing scholarships.

The campus is a beauty of nature. You will witness varieties of deeds in the campus. The campus is like a forest in the centre of the city. The Tech fest - Shastra & annual fest - Saarang happens during the first and second week of the Year. You may find all kinds of books in the library. Provision will be made to borrow book from the library and book bank. You will be having full facilities for all kinds of indoor & outdoor sports, There are various kinds of clubs related to languages, region, tech, education, innovations, startup, competitive exams and many more

The first year students will be provided hostel in a separate zone to prevent ragging. First year hostel are newly constructed ones and the rooms are good. But the hostel for other years are old and will not be like in your first year hostel. All hostels will have facilities for RO water, washing machine, hot water facility, common room, game room, study room. In hostel grounds you will have volleyball court, basketball courts and cricket nets in old hostels.

Admission is based on your rank in JEE advanced exam. To appear in JEE advanced you should be in top 2,50,000 of those who cleared JEE mains. Application details can be found in nta website and jeeadv.ac.in. Reservation and benefits are offered based on your category and family annual income.
