What Students Say
Likes
- Affordable college where approx everyone can come and study.
- Location in the mid of the city making it accessible for all
- Nice atmosphere here for enjoying and studying hand to hand
Dislikes
- Very hectic time table especially for morning batch. 6:30 to 10:15 even in Jan month when temperature reaches 5 degree
- 75% attendance is a must otherwise won't be allowed to give sem exams. This makes the life of a upsc or ssc or ca aspirants a bit tough
- Too much reservation. Even in the election of CR of a class, out of two one must be of ST category
Course Curriculum Overview
Let me tell you my experience. Being from a small town in jharkhand, I also wanted to study in a reputed and a big college and that is how i found St. Xaviers College ranchi. In one section, they have around 100 students and 4 to 5 classes are taught in a day(saturday included). Maximum faculties are well educated, experienced and well groomed while a few are just up to mark or just below it. Exams are not so tough yet not so easy. One can easily pass if he/she will study atleast in the exam nearby time.
Placement Experience
In the last year, they organise placements exams to make the students eligible for campus placements. As only regular courses are taught here , placements are not so vast. Approx 10% students are placed. It also implies that reading a regular course, all students didn't opt for placements rather pursue other courses or preparations like UPSC, SSC, CA, CTET, etc. I myself was preparing for SSC.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is around 33-34 k per year for general category students while 30-32 k per year for St/Sc students. No scholarship is given by the college but all students belonging to ST, SC and OBC avail the benefits of e-kalyan scholarship by the govt. Of jharkhand which pays approx the whole fees of the students.
Campus Life
Life at St. Xaviers Ranchi can be termed as moderate, not so royal class like the private btech colleges also not so bad like local colleges. One can enjoy to the fullest keeping in mind the discipline of the campus. Library can also be termed moderate but I personally didn't like that. Sports activities were there but i didn't find them much interesting. 50% classrooms have projector and white blanket while the others lack the same. Many a groups and clubs are there where one can enjoy and contribute.
Admission
For admission in St. Xaviers College, there is one and only way and that is by filling their application form which they post on their official website @sxcran.org . After applying they take entrance exam and on the basis of that they select students by publishing 3 lists one after another. Around June they publish forms for admission on their website. If i tell about the eigibility, one must have 50 or above marks in approx all the main subjects. Reservation:- Being a minority institution, too much Reservation is provided to especially the ST students.
