Likes

Well disciplined and strict rules for good development and zero violence
Free admission for poor students whose family's income is less than 2 lakhs per annum
Well educated and experienced faculties .

Dislikes

Toilet space is too small, there are only 5 toilets.
Less access to library and less variety of books
Less Common room facilities for breaks or rests.

Course Curriculum Overview

So my course i.e Bcom hons follow CBCS system and consists of 3 years of classes divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each. We get new subjects every semester. There the 3-4 faculty per subject and everyone is well educated and equipped to teach us.

Class Size: 19Course Fees: INR 550 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Well, i got admission with only 550rs per year. The college provides free admission to students whose family's income is less than 2 lakhs per annum. Only we have to pay few charges which is just 550rs.

Campus Life

We have yearly sports and cultural fests running for 1-2 weeks. College library is well kept but there are very few readers and therefore the authorities add few books each month. We have smart classrooms with projecters and smart boards.

Admission

Numerous common courses were available and i chose Bcom Honours, the admission process was smooth, i got the notification in their official site . I went to the college to get more admission details. They have an online system for admission of students. We filled my details in their website and then was told to provide the acknowledgement form physically. The course price of Bcom Honours is 5000 rs but if your parents income is less than 2 lakhs per annum then its just only 550rs, which i took. And after few days we were summoned for orientation and then our classes started. Everything is smooth enough.

The college i study in is very good

Placement Experience:

Students from 5th semester onwards are ready for campus placements. The students from our college gets a very good college placement at a very nice company and salary. The percentage of students getting degree are 80% and my plan after my degree are to become "Company Secretary or job at SBI".

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the course is very rich and varied for someone from commerce background . There are a lot of subjects for students which students study in various semesters . There's even EVS in the curriculum which is wierd but also great . I feel the curriculum is a lot based on the real life there are topics related to computerised accounting, e businesses , virtual reality , augmented reality , stock markets etc etc . which are ig very necessary for today's world . Since I am just in my 1st semester I don't think I can say a lot about the improvements that can be made but I feel the curriculum can also include a little about AI as it's the burning topic of today's world . If there's a subject like EVS for commerce then I feel even an AI subject will not pose much difficulty or chaos among the students . Exams are very regular . I just had my sessional exams in October and now I am preparing for my finals which are in December

Gauhati University: A Students perspective.

This is an integrated course where i will be getting a masters degree after completing 5 years. Only tezpur university provides this course other than GU. The curriculum prepares students mainly to pursue careers in academic fields and research fields. More practical aspects can be added to provide a holistic knowledge to the students. Nothing influenced my decision to choose this course. I just wanted to choose this course for fun, to be honest. the curriculum rarely prepares us for real-world applications or further academic pursuits but whenever it does it would be very beneficial for the students. Held frequent inspections in the college so that they can improve themselves and the teaching method should be in a friendly and more comprehensive way. Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, nothing specific has influenced me in the decision to choose this course that is BCOM as most of these student after passing shoes, so I also opt to BCOM. Well, the curriculum does not fully prepare the students for real world applications or further academic pursuits. They does not provide any practical knowledge or any kind of internship to the students for the real world. Well, according to me, they should provide some internship or something related to practical knowledge. This improvements are very necessary. The frequency and timing of exams is very low like within four months the university tries to complete the whole semester, and it's very hard to complete the whole syllabus within just four months.
