Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I have always been passionate about the hospitality industry, the kitchen in particular. The teachers of our college are among the best in the country and their teaching methods enable the students to not just learn, but also retain information. On the whole, the exams can be cleared easily if one studies well for it.
Internships Opportunities
Our college's training cell was instrumental in getting us our internships. Almost all the large chain hotels including Taj, ITC, Oberoi, Marriott, Hilton, Four Seasons, Hyatt, IHG, Accor, etc., have taken students from our college. Stipends range from 1000 Rs. to even as high as 7000 Rs. per month for the four-month training period.
Placement Experience
Our college is known to have the best placement rate among all hotel management colleges in the country. Over 50 companies have visited, including the largest chain hotels such as Taj, ITC, Oberoi, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Raddison, and so on. Everyone who attends the interviews gets placed somewhere or the other. The percentage is over 200%. My plan after getting the degree is to pursue the management training program offered to me.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is available on the NCHM website and brochure. It keeps fluctuating but is around 1,20,000 Rs. per year, both semesters included. I have not availed of any scholarship, but the college provides ample opportunities for getting one.
Campus Life
Our college life is riddled with activities and events, although most of them are internal events. We have a wonderful event and a feast for every major festival, and also have an ethnic day, etc. Our library has more knowledge in it than you can gain in a lifetime, and our classroom amenities are top of the order. Unfortunately, Sports isn't a part of our activities due to the unavailability of space. Our college has four clubs, one for each department, who organize all the events and fests.
Admission
When I joined the course, the admission was quite smooth and as expected. There was an age limit for every reservation category, with the age limit for the general category being 25. I believe the age limit was removed last year (2023). The application form can easily be found on the NCHM website to appear for the all-India exam.
