Thoughts of IIITM

I have interest in computer science branch and was sure to pursue this. The students in my college are comparatively less as their were only 3 branches. However from this year 2 new branches are also introduced. Faculties teaching here are very nice and holds great knowledge depth about their departments. Many Faculties hold PhD degrees. Term exams are always taken timely according to the schedule and if you possess good understanding skill and determination, then they are not tough for one to clear those exams.

DE Shaw, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Goldmann Sachs etc are the companies which gave internship opportunities to the students some with stipend and others with experience, with the tasks of software engineer interns and developer interns.

Placements are fair in the college. For 4 year courses students are eligible from 7th semester and for 5 year courses students are eligible from 9th semester in their placements. Companies like Mercari, Cisco, DE Shaw, TCS, Airtel, Nutanix etc visited the campus and hired many students. Highest package has also reached till 1+ cr and average is of 24 lakh per annum. Almost 80-90% students get placed in the companies. I also plan to complete my degree and get placed on good company with a decent position.

Fees in the college is similar to the other colleges and hike is seen on year to year basis, but is not exponential. Study is affordable here. Students may avail various different scholarship as per their category, speciality and many state scholarships as well.

The annual cultural fest of the college is Aurora which happens in the month of February while the techfest is InfoUtsav which happens nearly in the end of January. Both of these fests occur alternatively. Apart from them, sports frsts like Urja and Twaran and cultural fest like Celestia also happen in the college time to time. Books and journals are present in ample amount in the library. Classrooms are good and amenities provided are worthy. There is good sports facility in the college with a huge sports complex equipped with many sports facilities like badminton, chess, squash, snooker, table tennis etc. There are many clubs related to entrepreneurship, cultural, social welfare, tech oriented, innovation etc.

Hostels are compulsory for all the students of the college. There are 4 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel in pocket A. Mess facility, cleaning facility all are provided in the hostel. Menu is really good including variety of meals to be served. Food is quality is fair enough according to any other mess food. Hostels are affordable and registration is done after academic registration where you have to give your passport size photographs and fill some required details and a hostel room will be allotted to you.

I got admission in this college through JEE MAINS exam which is conducted on All India basis for taking admission in Engineering colleges. The eligibility criteria for this is the student must be 12th pass and shall have the minimum required percentage in subjects like physics, chemistry and maths. The application form of the exam is available on the website of NTA and the further information regarding it is present there only. After the exam is conducted, results are out and ranks are given to students depending upon their marks and then JOSAA counselling is done where students have to fill the colleges and branches of their choice. After this seat allotment is done in 6 rounds and 2 CSAB rounds.
