Remarks
Our college provides us with all that we need in a way that is inexpressible. The only one thing that I feel and is totally my personal opinion is that 50 mins of class duration and 8 such classes per day make it difficult for us to concentrate and listen wholeheartedly. I am currently pursuing my 4th year of B.E and if I was to summarise my entire college experience, in short, I would say "well organized and disciplined". Right from the first year, we have clear-cut timing restrictions. We are expected to be in the campus before 9 am and not allowed out of the campus before 4:30 pm unless there is the genuine reason. We have the well-organized timetable that includes both academic and non-academic activities. All the students are supposed to be in decent dress code when we wear the civil dress and I personally feel that is very important. On all other days, we are supposed to wear the uniform and that makes our college well disciplined and it thus promotes equality according to me.
Entrance Preview
The exam that I wrote was CET(Common Entrance Test), Karnataka. I landed up in this college because of the branch that I wanted to choose. There was only one other college in Mysore, that provided the course that I wanted but my ranking was not sufficient enough to join that college. There was no interview process. We were just asked for confirmation about joining the course and college. I chose " Electronics and Instrumentation" because I feel instruments play a major role in all the field, right from industries to hospitals.
Course Curriculum Overview
"Electronics and Instrumentation" is special in its own way. It is a mixture of both software and hardware. Thus, practical knowledge is really very important for this course and I feel we surely had the good portion of our time spent on practical learning through laboratories, technical programs, competitions and various workshops. Our college has a special robotics lab which is open for students to know more about robotics and work on it practically. Talking about my electives, in my 6th sem my elective was "Biomedical DSP" and in my 7th sem my electives are "Aeronautical Instrumentation" and "Robotics and Control". We had a wide range of electives to choose from and I had a tough time making my choice as all of them were very interesting. We were given a brief introduction about all the electives before we made our choice.
Internships Opportunities
Our college encourages us to do the maximum number of internships. Many of the students have attended various internships and some are yet to attend depending on the number of days of internship. Most of the internships didn't provide any stipend amount but were great value of experience.
Placement Experience
The placement training began right from the 1st semester. We are continuously trained for the placement activities during our vacation period and the number of training days depends on which semester you are. Placement for this year has began from the month of August itself and there were companies that offered 10 lakhs per annum while most companies offers a package of around 3.5 lakhs per annum. Around 15 students have got placed currently but the numbers are soon going to raise tremendously and all the students are geared up for it. The major companies that visited us were VM WARE, IBM, CGI, SCHNEIDER,ABB....
College Events
Talking about the events organized by my department the main one is Roboteer which had many colleges taking part in it and was about line following robot.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I feel that the fee structure is very affordable though the fee structure increased every year. When I joined it was around 40,000 while now in my 4th year it is around 70,000. Even then, when compared to the facilities and comfort that the students are being provided I feel the fee structure is affordable and worth it.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides many scholarships , some of them being based on the cet ranking, economic status, minority ,etc. I have not availed any.
Campus Life
Our college gives equal importance to extracurricular activities .We have students taking part in competitions based on karate, volleyball,basketball,throwball,kho-kho,kabadi,table tennis, singing and so on. We have all the facilities required for all the sports and other extracurricular activities. I am personally a passionate basketball player I am sure that I am given ample opportunities to explore and build up my talent even more. My only worry is that the basketball court that we have in our college is not cemented and this forces us to practice dribbling indoors.
Hostel Facilities
No, I was not residing in the hostel. From all that I heard from my friends who stay in hostel is that they have a lot of fun in there. 3 of them share a room and the rooms seems to be very spacious and neat. Most of them love sharing the room while there are some who wish to have their personal space though. The hostel was within the college campus , and there is not PG provided by the college. The food was good, hygiene and they had a whole lot of variety of food cooked . However, I have no idea about the hostel fee.
Alumni/Alumna
We have interactions with our alumni on regular basis. The college themselves provides us with the platform for us to interact with our alumni and make sure that we clear all the doubts we have especially regarding the placement activities. The alumni who come up to the college and talk to us are really an asset to us as their contribution is huge in terms of encouragement, tips, suggestions, feedback and support.
Exam Structure
We were never stressed out regarding the exams and labs nor was it a chill culture. We had 3 internal assessments properly scheduled , and lab internals were scheduled accordingly based on the exams and other activities. They made sure that the portions were completed before hand and we are made confident enough to face the final exam.
Faculty
All the faculties of my department are well qualified and experienced to teach the subjects that we have have and also provide us with good practical knowledge. Two of them are PhD holders while around 3 of them are in the process to achieve it soon. All of the lecturers are very interactive and they make sure that we understand the concept clearly. They provide us with real time examples whenever required and see through that we can picturise the topic taught.
