Remarks

The college is good enough in all aspects just to placement thing and practical learning should be focused by the college administration. My overall experience in campus was good.

Entrance Preview

The entrance exam required is CAT of CUSAT university. According to the score and the location of college(Its near my house) I landed up here. There was no interview process in between, direct admissions takes place. I am a BCA graduate and wanted to specialize in the same field, therefore i chose MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is not bad, i mean i expected more because when it come to a post graduation we are more serious about studies. But there is not that much exposure to practical learning. There were some research initiatives too taken by the institute. MCA is pure about computers, there are no electives. In final semester there are some elective subjects.

Internships Opportunities

There were no internship provided by the institute. But i did my internship from a company outside. My experience working there at that company was good. No stipend was provided for that.

Placement Experience

1

There placement scenario was poor during my time. I am very disappointed due to this. At the college should invite companies to the college for the welfare of their students. The college took the students to the places where there were open campus drives. Very few students from my batch got placed that too in very low package.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is affordable. For 1 year the fees is Rs 50,000 that is paid in 25,000 per semester. But according to the fees i am not that satisfied by the services. The caution deposit is also not returned by the college on time, the students have to go there and collect the money.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarships for scholars, Muslim students and students from backward caste.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was a day scholar.

Exam Structure

There are many exam in a semester which is really tiring, one after the other. Labs are well furnished and good but according to me there should be more practical than of theory exam. The weight-age of practical and theory should be of 50-50.

Faculty

4

Faculties are quite experienced in there field, and try out there best to deliver the knowledge to students. Classes are quite interactive and standard of teaching is moderate. Some of the teachers are too good and take the whole class in English.

Placement Experience:

For Integrated MCA, students become eligible for placements since the 9th semester. For Btech, its 7th semester. Some of the companies that visited our college are SOTI, UST, Leopard Technologies, Safran Digit. There are many other companies that we can apply to but those drives are not conducted at our college like experion technologies and G10X technologies. Our college is the only college in Kerala from where students are hired by Safran Digit. I have gotten placement in G10X technoologies private limited.

Nirmala College, Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A]
Reviewed on Jul 9, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed MCA at Nirmala College due to several reasons: • It is a course which is open to anyone who has passed any bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% and above. The only prerequisite is that one need to attend the annual LBS MCA entrance examination to secure admission to this course. • The syllabus of MCA in this college is affiliated with that of MG University, Kottayam. It is a vast syllabus covering various applications of computer science including programming in various languages such as C, Java, PHP, Python, data structures, algorithms, statistics, data mining, machine learning, software engineering, networking, etc. • The course is theoretically good but practically it doesn't really equip all students with enough knowledge and understanding to be placed in a good IT company. Some portions could be excluded from various theory subjects such as Networking with TCp/Ip and Algorithms Analysis.
