Remarks

Things that I didn't mention earlier are Canteen - food is ok, not so great, but there are many eatries behind our college which serve amazing food. Grounds - only 2 grounds are available, so don't expect some cricket stadium like grounds.

Entrance Preview

Got into the college through CET exam and i was passionate about automation and hence I opted for mechatronics.

Course Curriculum Overview

Since mechatronics is newly emerging branch in India, I wouldn't say that the course offered is suffice, but it will give you a good foundation for mechatronics

Internships Opportunities

Personally, I did not attend any internships and frankly our dept. did not encourage anybody for internships or industrial visits. End of the day, it's left to us whether to do internship or not. If you choose to do your internship, you will have support from our faculties.

Placement Experience

When we were in our final year there were some 15-20 companies which would come for campus recruitment. Out of them mostly were IT based. There weren't any "core" companies visiting back then. Situation might have changed now.

College Events

There weren't as many guests as one would expect from an engineering college, but the ones which were organised were really good. There was an annual ethnic day and departmental fests.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Back when I joined, fee structure depended on your CET ranking. For my course fees was around ₹35k for the first year and slightly increases as you reach final year. Final year's fee was around ₹46k. This figure is way better than the other colleges who charge almost double.

Hostel Facilities

Frankly, our college hostel isn't upto the mark. You don't have hot water facility, food is that great. For non localites, I would suggest some PG.

Faculty

Back when I was studying, our lecturers was truly amazing. There were a numerous audio visual classes held by them which gives you a good understanding about the concept. Best thing about them is that they aren't strict.

Life at IIT Dharwad - What to expect

Placement Experience:

At IIT Dharwad, students become eligible for campus placements right after their 7th semester(i.e. after the start of 4th year) and during their 3rd year, students also have opportunities to sit for internships which can later convert to PPOs. The companies that have visited our campus are Adobe, Amazon, Texas, TCS, wipro etc. The highest CTC offered was 55LPA and average package for CSE is 18-20LPA, and for the core branches is around 10-15LPA. In CSE more than 93% of the students got placed and many of other students opted for higher studies . In the core branches the placement percentage was around 85-88%. After My degree, I plan to go for a Software Engineer role.
