Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Bsc is an integrated and an underrated course. Any student from medical field would opt for BDS, MBBS, BAMS, etc but Bsc is as beneficial as other mentioned degrees. Life Sciences and other related fields are underdeveloped in the Indian workfield. But in other countries, it holds a respectable position. As in the recent years the research fields have grown in importance and Biotechnology is the future need in the country. The student ratio involves more number of girls than boys but everyone enjoys a friendly environment. The faculty and teaching staff are highly qualified pursuing either PHD or other higher courses. They are friendly, understanding and knowledgeable. The teaching method involves both physical and technical aspects. Labs for practical work are commendable. The college conducts MidTerms or MidSemesters after the completion of half of the syllabus. The level of MSTs is basic. After the MSTs, the college conducts Semester exams affiliated to the Punjab University.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internship opportunities are offered by various companies and government initiatives involving Lab Technician, Lab Advisors and other roles. The summer internship programme is offered to the students as the final year project.

Placement Experience

3.5

After the fifth Semester, you are eligible for placements. Companies like HDFC, Deloitte, Pfizer usually visits the campus with lots of offers. The average package revolves around 20,000 to 60,000. The percentage of students getting placements are 80%. Though Bsc course does not ensure placements, but other courses promise placements. I would either pursue MBA or would continue MSc in the Biotechnology field.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees usually revolves around 52,000 per year to more depending upon the course. The other costs depends on cost of living in hostels, Pgs etc. The college offers scholarship to sports students and merit students. The college also offers several internship opportunities within the campus with stipend.

Campus Life

5

The college holds Virasat fest every year usually in the month of March or April. The fest involves Fashion Night, Socials, Sports, Dance and other events. The library is well maintained and endured consisting of various books of fiction, course and other genres. The extracurricular activities are commendable and are held every month. The college provides facilities for the sports and extracurricular activities. Mini Auditoriums, Large Auditorium, Sports Ground, Badminton Courts etc. The college consist of various clubs like Enactus, Rotaract, MUN, Tedx etc which helds fresh recruitment every year and makes the college life more engaging and interactive. The clubs are usually run by seniors affiated by the respective teachers.

Admission

The eligibilty of the course involves 50% aggregate percentage from Medical or even Non-Medical field from a recognised board school. The dates of the application form are announced months prior to the official process. The process of fees and form is informed via students handbook or by personally contacting the respective teachers responsible for the admission process. The full details come under Punjab University website. Course Curriculum Overview:

Being a Science student , I loved my curriculum as it provides application parts with laboratories . I choose this course as I always wanted to learn more about science and its various fields. For me overall curriculum is good and have moderate level but I would suggest to reduce the syllabus little bit so that most of the students can learn whole syllabus Exams are being conducted regularly as per the University guidelines.

It really depends upon the course itself. A good curriculum includes preparing students for what's out there. Faculty here teaches the core concepts along with staying up to date with the trends and new technologies, it helps to connect the theory part with practicals. Therefore our course is relevant and comprehensive.

Curriculum is prepared well. I chose medical as i was a medical student. Curriculum is prepared in such a wau that it will help you out in the real world too. Improvement is required in the books as some of the books are out dated. Timing of exams are accurate we get enough time to prepare for the exam and difficulty level is moderate.
