A lot of clubs the explore almost anything you like
Almost every sport is available with professional facilities.
Placements very good and a lot of internship opportunities.

Dislikes

Sometimes the schedule get too clumsy because of classes and clubs.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose compter science mainly because i found coding very interesting and wanted to explore it. Plus it also has the best average package. The faculty is decent and the M:F ratio is about 3:1. The exams are held 2 times in a semester. One can easily get a good grade if one studies regularly.

Internships Opportunities

Internships are really good. Students get internship for 2 months. The highest internship offer this year has from oracle for 56 lacks for 2 months. Generally the average stipend for internships is not that high.

Placement Experience

Students sit for placements in the 7th semester around December. A lot of companies visit the college. They offer both domestic and international job offers. The percentage of students getting placed is very high.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am in first year so I dont have a job right now. A lot of companies visit the college during the placement season, both internation and national. As far as scholarships are concered there are many scholarships for the people who cant afford for the course.

Campus Life

The annual cultural fest is called Antaragni which is one of Asia's largest cultural fest. It is conducted in October every year. The tech fest is called Techkririt and it is conducted around March every year. The campus has a very old library which contains almost every book you will need.

Hostel Facilities

The rooms comes with a bed a table and a cupboard. There are no AC's in the rooms but you will get used to it. The mess food is pretty decent and the menu changes every month for variety. The hostel is pretty affordable with rent around 2500 per month.

Hostel Fee: INR 30000 per year

Admission

For admissions you have to clear JEE Advanced with a decent rank. And to qualify for advanced you have to clear JEE mains first. Any student with min 75% in boards can apply for JEE mains. Admission is done through the JOSSA counciling where you select your college according to your rank.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good. Companies that hire for Electrical core: Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Bajaj etc. Software/Quant compaines open to Electrical: Squarepoint Capital, NK Securities, Google, Microsoft etc. The % of students getting placed are 85%. Average package is 29.33 lpa. I have got an internship in Nvidia Software.

HBTU review from a Ist year student.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is very good in this college. In my own CSE branch there is good placement package you can get. But in this year due to recession the placements is less in IT section but still placement is going on and top package has crossed 35LPA. During previous years top package was around 44LPA and average was 10-12 LPA . Also in other branches like Chemical engineering and mechanical engineering, the placement is at its best of 100% always.

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. The cut-off for IITK varies-from branch to branch. For example the CSE of IITk open from Jee advanced general rank of 115 to 250....Read More

I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats.
