Likes

Academic building is quite the thing to see and study there as it's fascinating
Supporting and encouraging behaviour of faculties
Nice campus with greenery all around with necessary shops available

Dislikes

It's a open campus which can be dangerous sometimes
There's quite a land of area left for just nothing.
Many left out land areas can be used to built auditorium which is not there.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculties here are highly qualified and did masters from well knowned universities and colleges like IIT . Term exams are not so tough but question comes off topic sometimes due to pending course . Well you have to put effort on your own too as you can't blindly rely on faculties.

Internships Opportunities

I haven't got into internship as I'm fresher but got to know many things from my seniors . Companies that offers internships are good. Some of companies like Atlasian which always gives highest package of all and many other good companies too.

Placement Experience

Placements here are good even better than some NITs which are ranked top above this one . like it's average placement are quite comparable with some top nits . More than 90% students placed is what data from some last year's shows .

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are quite high according to me and also the services for which charges are added to institute fees are not available fully . Especially the money added for internet connection , there is not a single stable connection available for internet , LAN ports . Also the network around the area is too bad that one may face calling issues .

Campus Life

Well there are not so many but 2-3 fests which are organised annually. One of these is URJA which is a sports fest which generally organises in November. In this students from different branch compete in different sports for their branch .

Hostel Facilities

You will be provided room which you have to share with one other student ( roommate) in first year . You will get a bed one each , one switch board , two cupboards, a table , a chair . Quality of food in mess is average and variety of dishes is okay also you get a special dinner combo at the end of your semester which is just awesome .

Hostel Fee: INR 30000 per year

Admission

Being a general candidate , I say you have to get under 10k CRL in jee mains to avail CSE in NIT Jsr . Application process was quite hectic though , it almost took half day in completing registration of all students of a single branch .

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

I applied for NIT Raipur NIT Durgapur and NIT prayagraj I selected this college NIT Jamshedpur because it has top class placement and the branch I was getting as mechanical engineering which is a decent branch. I got rejected from NIT prayagraj due to little less rank . The admission process of my colleges you have to qualify JEE mains with around 95 percentile to get any branch as a general student then you have to go for Josaa counselling in which you will be a lot at the seat . I did choose this college because it is quite old and reputed, being a govt college it has lesser fees and offered good placements, I got IIIT Lucknow as well, but didn't opt for it as it was quite new and didn't have proper hostel and residence facilities at that moment.
