Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is divided into 6 trimesters in 2 years. The whole curriculum is designed to make us learn the best way possible. I decided to join XIME Kochi because of the ROI and quality of professors in the institute. We currently have a ratio of 18:1 concerning the student-faculty ratio. The faculty here is friendly and helpful and has vast experience in the industry as well as a very high level of education qualification. The only things the faculties are strict about are punctuality, responsibility, and discipline which is beneficial for us tho. The exams are conducted in the forms of mid-term and end terms with 65 percent and the rest of the 35 percent comes from quizzes, assignments, projects, and attendance. The exams are moderate level but you need to have a good amount of time handling them as you can have up to 3 exams per day.
Internships Opportunities :
The SIPs start to come as early as September and October in various roles be it finance, marketing, sales, HR etc. Companies like EY and Oxane Traders come to the campus for SIPs and offer a good stipend of 30-35k/month. Other than that various sales role internships come to the college. The SIPs are of two months and there is another provision in place of SIP, which is an exchange programme to Nagoya University one of top 100 universities in the world where two people are selected to join. The roles companies come for are portfolio manager, tech risk, BDA, market research intern, Hr Intern etc
Placement Experience :
The students start their placement process once they are in 4th term as they will have their mock interviews starting. In the 5th term, companies started to visit the campus. Since the placement is for all three campuses of XIME students need to go to Bangalore to give their interviews. Companies like Soc Gen, EY, Oracle, and KPMG come to campus offering good salaries. The highest placement for 2022 was 15.4 lakhs and the average was 10.2 lakhs. this year even tho there is a recession going on the institute is bringing in good companies for placement with the highest placement being 14.2 lakhs and the average is around 9.4 lakhs with 40 percent of the batch being placed. For me, I will definitely try to get a placement that has a record of 100 percent placement. If not then I will do my further studies abroad.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total cost of studying for 2 years in XIME Kochi comes up to around 11.5 lakhs which is still cheaper as compared to many top colleges. You will have almost 9 lakhs course fee and 2 lakhs around in the form of hostels. The fee hike is there but at a low percentage. You have a good ROI which is an added benefit and another advantage is Kochi is cheaper than other metropolitan cities in terms of living expenses. There are a lot of scholarship opportunities that you can earn as a student if you excel in education or have an all rounded performance as a whole.
Campus Life :
In XIME there are a total of 5 core clubs and 4 non core clubs. The five core clubs are finance, HR, marketing, Operations, and entrepreneurship while the 4 noncore clubs are Sports club, Cultural club, Photography club, and Speaker club. Campus life is very good for me as you have greenery all around and a good environment. There is one canteen and two stores run by students where you can get your daily needs. You have classes from 9-3 and the classes have all the amenities from AC, Projector, Fan, etc. There is a big library on the campus which is open for 12 hours a day and has a good collection of books and journals. There is a basketball court, badminton court, and a football turf in the boys' hostel as well as an array of indoor sports like table tennis and caroom. The annual fest of XIME Kochi is Quest which is held in February or March and is a national level fest.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is one of the cleanest hostels you can get anywhere. The rooms are quite spacious and are double-sharing. There are two beds, two tables, two chairs, and two almirahs with attached bathrooms. The rooms are cleaned once every week and there are washing machines and microwaves available in the hostel. There is a TV in the common room along with a table tennis table and caroom boards. There is a basketball court and football turf which can be used as a pitch for box cricket. Behind the hostel, there is a badminton court too and there are parking facilities for bikes and scooters. The total fee of the hostel is around 1.5 lakhs per year which includes the mess food too and it is compulsory to stay. The mess is pretty okay as they make meals of both north and south Indian dishes as people are from 22 states in XIME. The food is okay but as a north Indian, you need to adjust for a few days. Overall they provide you three-time meals and you can even have snacks whenever you want.
Admission :
The admission process was a three-step procedure. You need to take one entrance exam either CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT and get a score of at least 75 percent to fill out the XIME form. Once you fill out the form which you can find on the website of XIME Kochi you will be asked to attend GD and PI which was held online for us. If you can clear the GDPI, you will get a provisional admission mail that will give you the details about what to do next. There are no reservation benefits you will get in the whole procedure. I feel that the admission process was smooth the time I gave my interview and group discussion.
Interview Experience :
I was in a group of 10 for my group discussion and the topic given to me was " How AI can be a boon or bane for society?" It was a 15-minute group discussion with everyone getting a chance to speak once and conclude once with two moderators overhearing us. It was online in the form of a Zoom meeting. After the GD round, I was sent to the waiting room where I was called for my interview. There was a panel of three faculty members taking the interview and asking me questions about myself and later on went on to ask questions about current affairs and the domain I was interested in doing my PGDM. There were a lot of questions about current affairs which is an important part of XIME and there were questions about whats happening in my hometown. The way i prepared for the interview was to read through newspapers and re-learn the basics of Accounting which was my interest.
Other Applied Colleges
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management - [SIBM] | Master of Business Administration [MBA]
I didnt opt for this college because of higher fees and lower ROI.
