VIT Bhopal, quick review

As for students like me from purely biology course background without maths it is not easy to imagine a career in engineering but I was allowed to be admitted in a computer science engineering course that specializes in health informatics. Most of the faculties have phD in their concerned subjects with lots of patents and papers. Faculties at the college prefer caltech teaching method and they tend to believe that there is no back benchers in the class. The classes are about an hour and half long. The classes are held in two buildings, academic block and lab complex. For each semester there is a mid term and term end exam just a month apart. There is fully flexible credit system that allows students to choose the timetable slots and faculties for the courses assigned to them. Passing on exams are somewhat doable, mostly depends on faculty chosen and the amount of study or hardwork one has committed too. There is relative grading too.

There are many companies that gives internship opportunities like DE Shaw, Microsoft, Google, PayPal etc with a good stipend minimum thirty thousan per month. Faculty em=ncourages to submit research paper or review articles. Recently they encourage to write a chapter in book for Springer for SCOPUS program. There are various hackathons, tech talks and hands on coorganized by clubs to ensure ample exposure to students. We had two project exhibitions and a major project submission that is EPICS that has a duration of a year. These projects showcases an individual's skills and ability to work in a team.

It has a centralized placement system for all campuses through the VIT Career Development Centre. And it also has a dedicated placement and training cell guided by Shriram sir that coordinates with CDC and helps prepare students for interb=view in many aspects like technical, HR etc. More than one thousand offers arrive here, till date fifty nine lpa is the highest package. Companies like DE Shaw, Microsoft, Amazon, HP, Ebay, Hitachi, PayPal, etc recruits students from this college too. Ninety percent students are place deach year successfully.

The fees structure for academic part includes tuition fees and a caution deposit of either two or three thousands each academic year. They allow various scholarship programs, they even promote their very own STAR scheme for rural area students, etc.

First of all and my favorite is that there is no bullying or ragging on campus and if by any chance there is such a case and reported then they face severe punishments. There are two types of clubs, tech and non tech. The clubs in total might be over two hundred in count. There are events scheduled nearly every week sponsored by clubs and the students. Students tend to celebrate various festivals together irrespective of religion or caste. The library is spacious and accesible on weekends too. It has a good collection of books, especially novels. The classrooms are tidy and open to all. There are reading rooms in hostels that are accessible while exam time for studying.

There are AC or non AC rooms with beds ranging from 1 to 8 per room. For boys there are six hostel blocks and for girls it is two. There are more buildings that are under construction. In the academic block there is a miniature model of the proposed college campus design that they plan to develop in a few years. There are three mess services available, CRCL, Mayuri and AB mess service. They serve veg, non-veg and jain food. They serve breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The hostels are secure and security is pretty good and efficient. PGs can be available at local areas like Ashta, Sehore etc. Hostelers and day scholars wear different coloured ID cards, that is, sky and dark blue respectively. There are few documents like hostel affidavit that had to be submitted for hostel registeration and the rooms change every year, one has to re register it and based on cgpa, attendance etc they get their prefered rooms accordingly.

I took the entrance exam, VITEEE (remote proctored), and got admission in VIT Bhopal in first category. I had PCB and CS from CBSE board and I opted for CSE specialization in health informatics. The eligibility criteria for admission might vary depending on the course one applies for. But having completed 10+2 education from a recognized board is a must. You can also try attempting VITEEE which is an entrance exam exclusively for VIT university. We have many campuses, main one is Vellore, rest are Amravati, Chennai, Bhopal, Bangalore. The application form, application fees, application dates etc can be found online at the university's website (vitbhopal.ac.in). It provides various reservation benefits to certain categories of candidates and there is a STAR scheme or program that allows students selected from schools in rural areas to study in VIT Bhopal University on scholarship basis and all. Thay are exempted from paying hostel and mess fees.
