Course Curriculum Overview

3

My course is Btech Computer Science with Specialisation in data science. I chose it because Data Science is a branch of computer science that has a lot of future and would make a lot of job opportunities in the near future. I am not sure about the faculty:student ratio here but the college is increasing the student intake rapidly each year. Faculties are a little bit of shortage here but personally, I've hardly noticed this. All faculties are highly qualified with PhD degrees but many of them do mot know how to teach. They just read off the PPTs that they present in the classroom. There is no fixed difficulty level for term exam. The papers are set by the faculties itself and the difficulty only depends on how rhey set the paper.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Many companies, both startups and MNCs come here for placement and internship. Some examples are Apple India, Amazon, Deloitte, PwC, Reliance, Yamaha, Volvo, DataBricks, Bank of America, Honeywell, etc. Apple india offered 90000 as stipend for internship. CTC is not confirmed as the placement is not guaranteed after the internship. Amazon recruited from mechanical and related branches for 70000 stipend and 14lpa CTC if converted. They offered a lower ctc for CSE students. Deloitte offered 7.6lpa PwC offered 9lpa CTC Reliance Industriesoffered placement for the summer interns and CTC is not disclosed. Yamaha offered 8lpa for mechanical and related branches Volvo is also offering above 10lpa for CSE grads. DataBricks offered 14lpa for CSE Bank of America offered 9.15 lpa for CSE HoneyWell offered 10 lpa

Placement Experience

4

Internship offers start coming in the 6th semester but it is very difficult to get one as very few students are lucky enough to get it. Placement season starts from the 7th semester and lasts till the half of the 8th semester. Companies with CTCs ranging from 3 lpa - 20 lpa come for recruitment. Jobs are not restricted to CSE branch, but all the branches have a good placement record. it is far better than other private colleges. I got placed in a prominent consulting company with 7.6lpa CTC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is a 50000. Also, the first 10 students in the VITEEE rank list get to study for free. And if you have scored a perfect score in your boards, (that is, 100%), then also you get to study for free as long as you maintain CGPA above 8. Placement season is going on for 4gh years and I got placed in a prominent consulting company as an analyst. CTC is 7.6 lpa and since they do not provide internship for the role, there is no stipend.

Campus Life

4.5

There are almost 1000 clubs and teams in the college. It is a good place to make new friends and also makes a good impression during an interview if you add the achievements in your CV/Resume. The library is really big and has a lot of books which become useful especially during open book exam time. The annual cultural fest, GraVITas, is conducted in September. It is an opportunity for the freshers to join the club of their choice. There are all kinds of sports teams here (basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, etc) and they compete in national and international tournaments from time to time. For CSE, there is a CodeChef club, AppleDEV club, Mozilla Firefox club, and many more.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Men's hostel is poorly managed. There are 16 blocks for boys. Hostel fee ranges from 90000 to 250000 depending on the block, the type of room (number of people sharing) and also AC or non-AC. The rooms are nothing special. Some are spacious and some are crammed up. But the toilets in almost all blocks are not maintained well. Mess food, when compared to other colleges, is good. It is not the best food but mess is maintained neatly and food in general is still good. Hostels are registered in the beginning of the year online. But unlike other colleges, hostels are also allotted based on CGPA. Even if you have a low CGPA, you can rely on a friend with a better one by being be his roommate. Rental houses are in demand here and it is hard to get one without contacts. Very few houses are maintained well.

Admission

In 2020, due to the constant lockdowns, VIT did not conduct the entrance exam. They took students based on their 12th grade and JEE ranks. But generally, VIT employs a ranking system in which the students who have written the entrance examination (VITEEE) are ranked based on their respective scores. The application form, dates, and fee details can be found on VIT's official website. I do not belong to any minority community. So, did not have any reservation benefits.

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
