- College starts at 7 am in the morning which is sometimes difficult for the students who live at a far distance to come.
- The campus of the college is small. There is no ground to play of our college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it is a professional course and it will help me to learn about the law of the country and to help the people face legal problems. After passing my BA LLB I will never sit as an unemployed person because I can practice in the court as a lawyer and can earn a harmful amount. Along with that if anyone is willing to take the UPSC or judicial services examination it is very helpful for them to study law. In our college, the faculty is good all the professors are well qualified in law, and the faculty ratio to students is like 4:130. The teaching process is really good they are very student friendly, they will make you understand all the provisions of the law and you can reach to them at any time if you have any doubt, nearly the gap between two semesters is 6 months, the questions are student-friendly if you study well you can easily pass the exam and you can get good marks.
Fees and Financial Aid
The admission fee for South Calcutta Law College is around 26000 rupees and the session fee is rupees 9620. The scholarship available for all the general students is the Swami Vivekananda scholarship, for SC ST OBC, and the minority is the Oikoshry College scholarship, Students who need financial assistance can available the student credit card scheme which has been provided by the government of West Bengal the students to study.
Campus Life
The name of our annual fest is Atharva SCLC. Along with that, there are many festivals conducted by our college like Saraswati Puja, Independence Day celebration, Republic Day celebration, and many more. There are plenty of books available in the library on all the subjects along with journals and the leading cases of the Supreme Court and high courts of India. In every classroom, there is one projector and smart board which helps the student to learn all the things in a very easy way. There are cricket tournaments, football tournaments, and cultural programs which take place in our college frequently. Drama club, singing club, dance club, student union run by the students.
Admission
I always wanted to study law in my college. Currently, I am studying at South Calcutta Law College affiliated with the University of Calcutta. To get admission there is an entrance test conducted by the University of Calcutta every year. First of all, you need to visit the University of Calcutta website. There you will find the application form. Apply the form and select your references as there are 12 law colleges under CU. 4 of them are government and the rest are private. After that, an entrance exam will be conducted. Based on your rank you will get your college and also you can get your desired college if your rank fulfills the criteria to get admitted to the college. After that counseling process will start and then verification and after that you will get admission to your college. There are reservation benefits also. As of now, no improvement is needed in the admission process.
