Course Curriculum Overview
I chose my course after passing the higher secondary examination when I was looking for subjects I can study. Psychology was the subject I found myself most interested in and hence pursuing it currently. The faculty and student ratio is excellent in my department considering there are seven available professors for the students to reach out to. The faculty are all highly qualified with some of them still studying for higher qualification but all of them have the qualification of the master's degree or the M.phil degree. The term exams were all reasonably timed considering the syllabus we had and other factors. Overall it was doable for all the students.
Internships Opportunities
There is a high placement rate in our college, around 60%–70%. Top recruiting companies include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and many more. The top roles offered in our college are system engineer and software engineer, and many more roles depend on the ability of the students. All the students placed have an average package of INR 3.5 LPA, and the maximum package may be INR 11–12 LPA.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for campus placements in the last year of their respective courses. The companies visiting our college have names such as Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, IBM, Royal Research, Amazon, and many more. The total offers made goes up to near about 600. The highest offer in the year 2023 was 3lpa and the average offer went up to 1.98lpa Nearly 70% of the applying students got their placements. My plan after getting the degree is to pursue even higher education in the same field or any other related field.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is not any particular fee hike policy as it is a government-operated institute, but the overall cost to study is a little more if compared to other government-operated institutes, but the quality of education and other facilities are better here too. The cost of the courses varies depending upon the courses but for my course, it ranged from 8000-13000 depending on the additional subjects and extracurricular programs chosen. Any government-offered scholarships can be applied for from here and there is the facility of fees exemption too for those coming from poor financial backgrounds. Placements are offered in the college and recruiters select the right candidates for their jobs but the stipend or salary can vary a lot. The average package the students can get is around 3lpa.
Campus Life
The annual fest or the freshers party is organized every year after the admission process is over and it is really a lively atmosphere to enjoy along with friends. Different artists are invited each year to make the celebration worth attending. And other than that, usual programs and celebrations get organized all year round. The central library is one of the best features of the college and it includes every book a student can need. The library is big and has books for all the departments and subjects that can cater to every student. Classrooms are very generic with proper labs for respective subjects. There are many types of sports the students can take part in and other extracurricular activities like skill development and NCC. There are groups and pages run by the students of the college on almost every major social media platform including Instagram, facebook, etc.
Admission
The course which I opted for, the B.Sc psychology hons. the course had the eligibility criteria of an average of 55% aggregate marks in the higher secondary examinations of all the state and central boards or similar levels of examinations. All the notices and form for application was available online at the official website of the college. The whole admission process is free of any cost which is a very good thing. The application dates and other information are also provided on the college notice board which is also available online and can be accessed through the official college website. The candidates having reservation benefits will need significantly lower overall marks for selection. Those candidates can easily check for their names on the admission list in the separate sections reserved for those candidates. The only improvements I would personally like to see in the admission process are to increase the fluidity of the process and make the whole process quicker.
