Review of IGIT Sarang

I am currently pursuing BTech in computer science. This course is the most demanding course so the cutoff is generally very low as compared to others. The faculty of this department are decent, All faculty members either have a master's or a postgraduate degree. There are 6 exams in a year, two end-semester exams, and 4 internal exams in a year(2 in each semester). Passing is not that difficult, you just need a week before the exam to score a decent percentage.

Internships are generally available for the core students like mechanical, civil, electrical, etc. For cse and etc. you need to find yourself. students generally do internships in Nalco, a thermal power plant. steel plant, etc. The internship offered is mostly unpaid.

In the 6th semester, the placement process begins. Companies like Adani, tata steel, tata power,tcs, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, startups, etc visit the campus. The average package is around 5-6 lpa and the highest package offered is 16 lpa. 80-90% of students get placed. Since the placement opportunities are not too good in this college, I am thinking to opt for higher education. Many students here prepare for higher education.

The fee structure for core and some non-core branches is around 28k per year and for CSE and ETC which are self-financed courses, it is around 70k per year. There is no such financial assistance unless you are under the tfw category. The scholarship is available for students who have certain quotas like ews, sc, st. EWS quota is compulsory. Job opportunities are decent on campus. The college has a placement cell, you can visit the page to see the list of companies that visit the campus. The average package will range around 5-6 lpa.

The college has an annual fest which is known as Horizon. It is one of the biggest college fests among other colleges in Odisha. It is organized in the month of April. The college has a central library and academic books are also present and can also be burrowed. The classroom also has smartboard and wifi facilities. There is a huge playground along with 3-5 badminton courts,1 volleyball,1 basketball, and 1 kabaddi court inside the campus. Clubs and social work groups are also present inside the campus and some of them are also official. The college is in a rural area so there is nothing much to do outside the campus like clubbing, etc. Basic things are available but don't expect much.

5 hostels are present for boys and 2 for girls(1 more is under construction). Each year you will get a new hostel. First two years you can face difficulties as the hostels are quite old and not maintained properly. but during the final year and prefinal year, you can get good hostels along with wifi facilities. The meals are quite good as compared to other colleges. The hostel is alloted based on your marks. if you don't get a hostel, there are a lot of places you can get to live outside the campus.

Admission is done on the basis of JEE Main rank. You can go through ojee counseling to get a seat in the college. Ojee counseling is done on the ojee website after the completion of the jee exams. If you have any kind of reservation then the cutoff mark for you will increase.
