Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

B.Sc Computer Science Faculty: Student ratio is = 4:23 may vary a bit Faculty are well Qualified & Teaching method is okay good, but not to the mark like very good or excellent. The exam term was timely (sometimes it gets a bit late due to some natural disaster like cyclone, heavy rainfall, etc or any govt. & university delays), and the exam level is nearly too difficult, something like in between moderate to difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Course fees in the 1st year are nearly 9000 but in the 2nd year nearly 7500 and 3rd years also nearly 7500 - 8000. it is a bit high than other govt. colleges but it's affordable not so high. There are some scholarships such as the swami vivekananda merit-cum-means scholarship, sc/st scholarship, etc. There is also a student aid fund by the college which helps students by paying a little amount of their fees in any pandemic situation or any financial problem for this student and their parents have to talk with teachers and principals to avail of this.

Campus Life

2.5

There is no annual fest and tech fest. but there is an annual function which happens in the month of December or January. There are many types of books in the library, the library is not so big but okay. Desk & benches, blackboard, fan & light computers and projector in the computer lab. There are some sports like football, cricket, kho-kho, running, quiz etc. There are some groups such as coding, Art & waste management, environment etc but active sometimes and not active sometimes. There is a departmental website that is under procedure but has not been completed till now but may be completed in future by any other students of other batches.

Admission

Admission is fully online mode and verification was offline mode, admission is based on merit score. There is no Entrance Exam for admission. Eligibility of the course 10+2 passed with math compulsory in 10+2, with a minimum percentage of 50% to 60% varying according to category. The application form is available on the website of the college. There are Reservations Benefits for Lower castes such as sc/st,obc, news, pwd students as per govt. policy No improvement is needed as such, the admission process is easy and simple.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think I'm a curious student. Integrating biology with technology is interesting Recently we are studying animal tissue culture plant tissue culture which is superb. Generating a plan from a single cell is truly something interesting. I was drawn to genetics and biotechnology application . This curriculum prepares a student for research and industrial purpose . We get to do lab experiments project work under professors. In my opinion improvement can be done by industrial visits Exams take place at the end of each semester and we have mid sems in between

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements. Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well. I wish to explore my options after completing the degree as of now.
