I choose commerce because I am interested in business and my father also comes from a business background. The faculty is quite good but still needs to be improved. Teachers are not up to the mark and student ratios are higher. Exams conducted are moderate and it depends upon the students if they study they score good marks.

Class Size: 75Course Fees: INR 5000 per year

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

It is a government college so fees are minimum compared to private colleges. only admission fee is charged for every semester.No we are not provided any scholarship, financial assistance, and jobs from campus.

Campus Life

Events are conducted for the welfare of the students for better information and knowledge. All books needed for students for their academics are available in the library and students can check out from the library with their library card. Classrooms are good and create a positive environment for studies. Yes, sports and extra curriculum activities in between of every year for the students to stay healthy physically and mentally. ASU, GORKHA UNIT, and ACP.

Admission

We were short listed according to our class 12 th percentage. Application forms can be filled on official website of college and the hard copy of form should be submitted at the time of admission to the college. Reservations for St and sc were there. It was good I have no complain on admission procedure.

Gauhati Commerce College in a nutshell

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.com gives a holistic overview of the stream i.e, commerce. It also opens door to many opportunities I guess. I'm the first batch of NEP where more importance has been given to vocational education, but I guess it is still not upto mark. Even now more emphasis is given on theory but it will change with time. They should give more emphasis on real world applications and internships etc. Exams are conducted on time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculty members were quite slow in some aspects. Yet they need to work on the staff for the admission department. Would definitely look up for improvement for the coming sessions. Haven't had any class yet due to covid but they say it's gonna start soon. Hope we don't lose out this year.

Remarks:

First of all our college starts too early and then the classes duration is too long for 1hr. There been continuously classes for 3 to 4 hrs and we got a break of 1 hr then again classes begin.

Remarks:

The candidate has to secure at least 60% to attain a seat in the college. The admission process was simple, the seats in different departments were distributed according to the cgpa/percentage achieved by the students. For eg, if someone has secured 90% he/she will be given full freedom to select any department of their choice. But, if someone has secured 62% then he might have some difficulty selecting the subject of his choice because there's a capacity in each department. Reservations can be availed by Minority castes/tribes/religions and differently-abled candidates. The entire process of admission was satisfactory however, it could have been better if the capacity in each department had been greater.
