Likes

The college is gender neutral, open to people of any sexes
Classes are regularly done, no cancellation whatsoever
Very approachable and student-centric principal

Dislikes

There is a rule where we can't get out of college before 1pm which creates problem sometimes
The college is packed according to the size
There is no post graduation course for students who want to stay in the college after graduating

Course Curriculum Overview

English is a subject that I relate to and love therefore it has been my priority. The subject teaches me the history in a very interesting aspect. Sessional examinations are held every two months after the beginning of a semester which gives us good enough time to prepare for the finals

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 6000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

We pay an admission fee on every odd semester of Rs. 4500-6000. Students with an income certificate can avail free admission. Other glthan admission, we pay an examination fee of Rs 700 before each exam.

Campus Life

The college is culturally and sportwise very forward. They take part in every inter college fests and organise their own as well. There are 5000+ books in the library and there is also audiobook provision. There is NSS-NCC clubs, an anti-ragging committee and students union

Admission

Dispur College is accredited with "A" Grade by the NAAC. This college was my second option after B. Borooah College where I couldn't get admission in English major, therefore I joined Dispur College. This college prioriticizes students and their problems. They are heard and seen by the authorities

Faculty

The faculty of the college is extremely familial and empathetic. They are always there to listen to problems and give an useful solution. The faculty of the Department of English has shown me the real definition of how a teacher should be. Students maintain a good enough SGPA with no failures

Night Life

The cafeteria has the best maggi and coffee in the whole world also at a reasonable price. Sitting under the trees or in the gallery is the best part of the day. The campus and locality is completely safe. We had to stay until 8-9pm to rehearse once and while coming back home, it was safe.

In and outs: An Insight to my Institution

Course Curriculum Overview:

The institution provides a vast syllabus prescribed according to the courses . I did hons in english so in my field I had to study a vast syllabus ranging from ancient greek and roman literature to modern dramas The English course consists of poems, dramas, novels, novellas and many other. The course or syllabus is varies with different stage of semester or year In the first semester we had study the follows Greek literature and epic Roman literature Early indian literature In the second semester Roman literature Indian literature In the third semester Popular literature British literature American literature ....... The proficiency of students is checked in the exams where in the first sessional the level of questions remain easy Moderate to difficult in the second sessional and increases the level of difficulty with the progression of semesters If I will talk about the pros of the course It gives an insight of to the vastness of the world of literature which helps the students in different fields. It gives an opportunity to study different stories written by different writers from different countries and helps in to learn the culture, language, society, polity and the history of a particular period of literature movement. It also helps the students to think critically and creatively to utilise it in the real life scenarios. There are also some cons of this course It's vastness can sometimes make students burnt out completely due to the vastness of the course and the limited time frame where you have to cover everything from poems, novels with 300 pages to seminars , internships

Placement Experience:

The 6th semester students are eligible for placements. The college provides very good placements around 5 Lakhs package and good jobs too. My plans after getting the degree is doing Master's and clear Ugc NET exam and become assistant professor

My experience of the College

Course Curriculum Overview:

Teachers should be cut slack to maintain their mental health. They are not provided enough rest. The exam schedule are not at all managed properly. It is quite hectic and students fail to cope up with it

Dispur college review

I had applied to 5 to 6 colleges and fortunately I had got my name in every college merit I choose this college i.e. dispur college because one of my family member has already taken admission in this college also my friends have been saying that the college got accredited grade 'A' by NAAC and it also listed for CUET as it also comes under the guwahati university.and also our former HoD has been declared as the fellowship of commerce.
