Remarks

The one thing which is deteriorating the Masters level education in India is the double-mindedness of most of the GATE aspirants. Those with lower ranks join institutes of national importance such as ours just for the sake of the monthly stipend and the time they would get for GATE preparation. Such students waste the opportunity for someone else who is really interested in research, but could not get there due to low GATE score. It is high time that we prioritize our needs and act accordingly; it can only boost the research temperament among the student community.

Entrance Preview

Through GATE 2017, I got admission into this college after the counselling process. Seats were allocated based on the AIR in the qualifying exam. Each department has its own selection procedure, some taking written tests and interviews for the candidates. The Electrical Engineering department only had the counselling. I am interested in doing genuine research solely because of the intensive course-work and the inspiring teachers I had in my Alma Mater, NIT Calicut, Kerala. They sculpted and trained my mind to be enthusiastic for any given problem, and thinking of different ways of approaching and solving them. In my final year, I decided that I had to go for Masters in my field of interest, and here I am, pursuing M.Tech. in Electrical Machines and Drives at IIT BHU, Varanasi.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course structure designed for the Masters course in our department is still undergoing many changes in the overall outlook, so that it incorporates the current research challenges and solutions into our course-work. The focus, I would say, is laid more on the physical interpretation of the theories taught and the need of practically verifying any idea or solution to a problem. The Institute has undertaken many research initiatives in collaboration with MHRD, DST and other organisations. The work on linear induction motor was assigned by MHRD to boost the development of bullet train in our country. Electives for my specialisation are : Advanced protection of power apparatus and systems, Artificial intelligence applications in power electronics, Electric traction systems, Converter applications, Special Operational and Design Features of Electrical Machines, Solar and Wind Power Technologies, Robust Control

Internships Opportunities

The college does not provide an internship. Students have to apply to the different organisations themselves.

Placement Experience

4

I do not have the figures related to the placement scenario here, as I am a fresher here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The admission fee was around Rs. 30,000. This amount includes the academic fee. The mess fee was paid Rs. 12,000 in advance for approx. 6 months. Other semester fees is lesser in amount, and studying here is affordable. For M.Tech., a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month is given to the students for financial assistance.

Faculty

3.5

In terms of teaching experience, our department has excellent professors, who are always engaged in research activities. Most of the professors are graduates of this institute, and hence they understand the student body very well. Unlike a typical classroom where only the teacher speaks, the classes here are more interactive in nature, where teacher encourages questions from the students in order to stimulate critical thinking. Teachers here firmly believe that strong research skills can be imbibed only when the fundamentals in the subjects are strong, and stress is laid on the learning part.

Placement Experience:

Basically, if we're talking about M.tech. students are eligible for campus placement in second year of the course. Many companies have visited so far in the past like L&T , VIT( for Assistant professor) , EIL (for top rank holders) , etc with good CTC packages. My plan is to join any renowned PSU, if selected after completion of this course, as im preparing for it.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for attending campus placements from the 7th semester or the start of last year. For some streams like Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, MBA, BPharma placement records are quite good, especially for CSE. But students of other streams like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering etc struggle to get jobs even after their course completion. In my memory, more than 10 companies came for Computer Science Engineering and Electronics Engineering. The highest package offered was 12 lakh per annum by Jaro Education Group. More than 60% of students of CSE branch and approximately 30% students of EC branch got placed of 2020 pass out batch. Since I didn't get placed through campus placements I transitioned my career field towards Data Analytics and I'm currently pursuing it

Admission:

My admission in Amity Institute of Nano Technology was initiated by filling out an Admission form for M.Tech in Nano Technology after completing my B.Tech degree. I regularly checked the status of my form on the site provided by the university, wherein my form was processed within 3-4 business days. I was invited for a Group Discussion round after which admission letter was provided to me which held all the details regarding submission of fees and date of commencement of the semester.
