Remarks

The campus is known for its unique style of involvement with the socio-political issues. The university carries an extraordinary heritage in terms of producing thinkers. May it be discipline of science or humanities, the eminent personalities are spread across the countries. It's a life changing experience studying here. Faculties are highly qualified, up to date in their field of research. Students can talk to a professor anytime. The course is research oriented, meaning it'll be easier to pursue doctoral research after you complete M. Tech. There are 2 M. Tech courses offered in the upcoming academic session. One is in statistics and data science, the other is in computer science & technology.

Entrance Preview

JNU conducts its own admission test followed by an interview. This year, the admission is going to be held in the last week of December'17. I wanted to work for my doctoral research in Machine Learning. So, chose to apply and got through.

The course will train you to delve into the current research in the fields of, Mobile Networks, Ad-hoc networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, mathematical modelling, computer vision, web mining, analysis of algorithms, natural language processing, image processing, parallel and distributed system etc. The focus is on research along with computer programming languages that are used in industries. Almost all the faculties have been working on research projects few of which is supported by Govt. of India. The M. Tech in Computer Science & Technology comprises of 4 semesters. First semester offers 4 optional courses and one compulsory course, second semester offers 5 optional courses, third semester offers 2 compulsory courses on research methodology and academic ethics & technical writing along, the third and fourth semester also requires a dissertation under the supervision of a faculty.

Internships Opportunities

No. The university does not provide internship. The student may find one.

Placement Experience

2.5

Till the last academic session, M. Tech course was integrated to Ph. D. As a result, most of the students used to join the course to continue for doctoral research. However, companies come for the placements and there is an opportunity of getting placed.

College Events

5

The School Computer & Systems Sciences do organize workshops, 4-5 workshop and seminars per semester relevant to the field of research. The university does not hold a cultural or technical fest. However, the students are encouraged to organize such events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is a central university. Course and tuition fee are almost nil. A student has to bear the expenses of accommodation and food only.

Fees and Financial Aid

During the M. Tech, a non-net fellowship of Rs. 5000 p. m is provided. In addition to this, a sum of Rs. 5000 is provided as contingency per semester.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus hold a vibrant culture of debate and discussion on every topic. The students participate in a variety of activities ranging from sports, music, drama, debate, dance, photography, painting and many others.

Hostel Facilities

4

I stay in Tapti Hostel. There are 18 hostels in the campus. There single as well as double rooms. However, you will be allotted double room as the single rooms are for Ph. D scholars only.

Alumni/Alumna

There is Alumni Association of JNU (AAJ). But, I find it very less active.

Exam Structure

End-semester exam carries 50% marks. The rest 50% consists of mid-sem exam, assignments, presentation, minor exam etc. It depends on the faculty how he/she would like to assess a student's performance in the course. It is not at all frequent. The school environment and the interaction culture is very healthy.

I loved DTU. It is a college which is good in every aspect. Moreover it is in Delhi which adds to its strength and atmosphere. If I would get a chance to choose between IIT or DTU, I would opt for it once again as it is an awesome campus, college with placements matching to the standards of IITs.

College was very good, environment and infrastructure was good, faculty was also OK, i feel the college mostly needs improvement in managing its facilities, the college administration lacks the insights as if they want i feel the college can be best among the colleges in Delhi. Its supported by the state yet the administration is passive and not active.
